Hi all,

Good news. We got approved for K3 & I-130 on April 20th (yay!) and I just received a package from the US embassy in Malaysia asking me to send in a bunch of stuff. One of the things they require is the police certificates. Since I turned 16, I have lived in the US (4 years - attended a university), and Japan (11 months - worked) and now I'm working in Vietnam (currently on the 6th month in Vietnam).

Please do drop by a line or two on how I should deal with the US, Japan & Vietnam government to get the police certificates.

Thanking all of you in advance!!!

You don't need one for USA you shouldn't need one for Japan because less than 12 months look at NVC website reciprocity tables you can enter all countries you need documents from and it will tell you how and where to get them from http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3272.html

First of all, congratulations on your approval!

Where did you live in Japan? You need to contact the prefectual police of your last residence to request one.

If it is Tokyo, take a look here at http://www.keishicho.metro.tokyo.jp/foreign/apply/tokoue.htm

You don't need a police certificate from the US.

Good luck

blue123, I checked out the webpage you gave me (thank you very much) but couldn't find a clause that says a stay of less than 12 months doesn't require a police certificate. If this is true, it would make my life so much easier. 2- 3 months processing time :(

redglasses, hi :) I lived in ishikawa prefecture and worked in fukui for 11 months. I had a lot of fun!!
