Hi, we're doing DCF at London and sent our I=130 in May too. Glad to have found a couple more UK DCF's, nice to know we're not alone. My hubby and I went to the US after sending the I-130 to get a house and so he could start a job there, for the I-864 requirements. So now I'm back in the UK waiting ...gotta hate that part the most, but he had to take the job now or never.

Good luck on the RFE. We got RFE'd today, isn't it crazy that they ask for proof of relationship when people have lived together for well over a year?!

I really am glad to have found this thread. I was gutted when I opened the envelope today and there was an RFE. Though I don't wish an RFE on anyone, it is a bit of a comfort to know I'm not the only one and there isn't an immigration officer sat in a little office somewhere who has decided to pick my name out of hat and make my life hell...well, at least I hope there's not...lol

Quick question: Does anyone know if the affidavit explaining how we met etc and the affidavits from third parties need to be notarized? On the letter it says 'complies with 28 U.S.C. sec. 1746" Or does that mean they just have to do the little declaration?

Many thanks.

28 U.S.C sec 1746 refers to an unsworn statement. It means that they do not have to be notorized. Just make sure that the bold little declaration is on the page.

Thank you. I wasn't meaning to be lazy by asking, I couldn't think straight when I got the RFE or I'd had done a search on it. Even then I'd probably be second guessing what I'd found.

Did you send photocopies of affidavits or the originals? Photocopies would make more sense, just in case the originals were needed later on. I know I'm nit-picking, just want to be sure I'm getting things right.

I sent 2 originals and 1 copy. But made sure to make copies of the 2 originals before I sent them.

Glad to have found a couple more UK DCF's, nice to know we're not alone.

Tell me about it, I think I'd have lost my mind already without this forum!

Good luck on the RFE. We got RFE'd today, isn't it crazy that they ask for proof of relationship when people have lived together for well over a year?!

Okay, that is CRAZY. I only sent in our I-130, his proof of USC and residency in the UK, his change of name deed, previous divorce papers, our wedding certificate, 2 x G325As (one each, obviously), payment and SAE. Basically, I only sent in the bare minimum and I've been kicking myself for days when I saw everyone getting RFEs, so I've prepared affidavits ready to be signed if needed... but today I got our Notice of Approval saying our petition has been approved and forwarded to the Consulate! We were filed on May 13th and approved on June 2nd (received today), so how is that a fair system compared to you guys?

Granted, I'm chuffed to bits that we missed an RFE, but I'm very confused as to why ours seems to have been the exception.

We're just waiting on Packet 3 now, unfortunately our NOA2 is blank in the "File Number" box, so I can't get the jump on that and need to wait for them to contact us.

You know guys, I hate to be a total buzzkill, but I am moving this to the DCF forum. I know, I know. When I was doing DCF, there were like 3 of us as opposed to what seemed like 80 bajillion K1s and I would have loved to have some idea what the others were doing. But the UK forum is getting waaaaay too bogged down with status update threads, which is not what the sub-forum was meant for. The two existing status threads (which frankly could be merged into one) are for everybody regardless of visa type, and you can keep posting in this thread in the DCF forum. There are also lots of UK people who don't even know about the UK forum, and could be missing this because it's not in an upper forum. So... I'm moving it.

Congratulations! Please keep us up to date on the rest of your journey.

I wonder if the RFE's are random, maybe one out of every four or five people get an RFE for something whether necessary or not. Once I'd calmed down and read properly what was being asked of me, I saw how ridiculous it was. I mean, asking for a few joint utility bills and basic affidavits (usually considered secondary evidence) was nothing and left me wondering exactly what it was meant to prove. I guess I thought that as we've been married almost 2 years, things would run smoothly and be very straightforward. Something I should know better after reading some people stories here. Oh well, everything was copied and sent today, huge relief, now bring on the NOA2's all round! and the packet 3's!
