My fiancee and I recently sent in the paperwork for our K-1 visa, does anyone know how to track the process?? And how long does it usually take for them to send word if it has been accepted?

1. Firstly, welcome to VJ - you will find many helpful people here to answer such questions.

2. These questions are very basic and complete answers are found in the Guides, look at the menu bar at the top of this website

3. However, to speed you on your way, here are specific answers to your questions: you should receive your "NOA1" which is a receipt for the acceptance of your case within a few weeks. If you don't, check with your bank to see when your check has been cashed - that will also be proof-positive that you are in the system. You can get your case number either from the NOA1 form, or it should be on the back of your canceled check (I say 'should', because ours was not). To track your case online, go to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp and set up a login ID using your case number. Now you can track it until NOA2, which will probably be several months from now.

Good luck, read the guides, and stick around! Also, now that you have filed please consider creating a timeline :time:

Don't get too discouraged if you don't see an update on the progress of your case on the USCIS website. Many VJ members, including myself, did not receive an update on our I-129f case status via the USCIS online case status system. Usually, it takes about about 3-4 weeks to get the NOA1 notice and 4-5 months for the NOA2 notice.

The process will seem incredibly slow and frustrating at first but once you get past the NOA2 stage things start to go faster.
