I am posting this question for someone else who is planning a move from Argentia to the US with his Columbian Wife.

Here is a brief overview of thier situation. He is planning on moving back to the states in July. He and his wife were married in Columbia over two years ago. Although he attended College in Bogata so he was there on likely a student visa - I am not sure what he has for visas but assume since he works for a Financial News publication and is a foreign correspondant in Argentina that he has the proper visa and documentation to be there as well as she as his wife from Columbia.

So, here is my initial question.. What is the process they should follow? And my concern would be that he is a current resident of Argentina as well as for her... is there any Argentinan process they need to follow or would it be best for them to just apply for DCF through Columbia....

He had been in Columbia for a few years on a Student Visa when he met and married her.

Just a little help to steer them in the proper direction for her US Visa to be issued

01/25/07 - RFE for I-824 - used and outdated form

02/14/07 - Get email stating Post Office has Address posted as Vacant from the USCIS

02/16/07 - Hubby gets WA State Drivers Licence

03/05/07 - AOS appointment April 19, 2007 Seattle

04/13/07 - Biometrics Taken for AOS

04/19/07 - AOS interview - Approved pending name check

04/23 - 05/28 - 5 additional appointments with the Seattle USCIS office - to clear up the EAD issue

05/15/07 - 90 Day EAD Arrives

06/10/07 - EAD/Green Card approval letter arrives

06/15/07 - EAD arrives

06/23/07 - 2 year conditional Green Card Arrives

As they are residents in Argentina they would DCF through the US Embassy in Buenos Aires

Your friend needs to send them an email via the link on this page: http://argentina.usembassy.gov/hours_of_service2.html in order to find out more about the DCF process there

Also, he will need to prove that he has been a resident of Argentina for at least 6 months prior to filing the petition http://argentina.usembassy.gov/i-130_petit...nformation.html

Thanks so much for your speedy reply --- but in the short time I gathered information to share this with them... I found out that they live in Columbia now.. with his wifes parents. So, now what is the process. Can they DCF through Columbia being they have been married over two years. I had read somewhere that Columbia only allows DCF under very special circumstances. Is this correct?

How long have they been living in Colombia? It would need to be a minimum of 6 months legal residency before they can apply via DCF.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I believe they just recently moved to Columbia to live with her parents. I think had they stayed in Argentina that the DCF through there would have been much faster. Now they need to establish residency in Columbia --- But if they had lived in Columbia for several years prior to that would that account for anything - They were both former residents of Columbia.
