Do I need to change my SS card?

Hello,

I have a social security card issued when I was on my temporary workers visa..now that I'm a permanent resident do I need to do anything with my SS card? It says valid for work only with DHS athourisation..does this mean anything now?

Any ideas?

Applying for Citizenship

17th January 2012 Sent in N-400 application

24th January 2012 Received conformation e-mail from USCIS

25th January 2012 Cheque cashed

13th February 2012 Biometrics appointment

5th March 2012 Received e-mail I am in line for interview scheduling

8th March 2012 Received letter for interview

12th April 2012 Interview date-approved

10th May 2012 Oath ceremony

Take your greencard to the SSA and they should remove the restriction and issue you a new card.

I assume I would have to bring my green card? Anything else like a passport, birth certificate etc?

All you need is your green card. If you changed your last name after you were married and the SS card you have shows your maiden name, then you will need to take your marriage certificate as well.

Yes I just went last Friday to SSN office, I received my GC so brought that with my old SSN card... they processed it no problem and received new card within 1 week!
