Well first off I want to THANK EVERYONE on this board - without all you guys this would have been even more stressful - you guys helped me get thru it so much faster as well - once I was to the NVC part :)

ok, so

first off I stayed at the Hyatt - booked thru priceline for 58US/night - beds SUPER comfy!!!

it's not as nice as most Hyatt's but clean :)

My mom went with me :) we got there Wed night by Train - 5 hour train ride from Toronto we paid 144/round trip

we got in about 8:30pm, walked to the Hyatt (about 10 mins) dropped off our bags and went back out to confirm where I needed to be the next day

it's about a 5 min walk - not even - I didn't even realize I walked right by it from the train station to the hotel.

we checked it out - went up to timmy's and had a muffin and coffee.

Got up at 6am on Thurs, was ready by 6:45am - my mom held me up a bit - I wanted to get there at 7am, but she kept saying the doors do not open till 8:30 (as per the sign outside) but I said I knew they opened at 7:30 - we got there about 7:20, she left to go to timmies for coffee's for us.

doors opened and she wasn't back yet with our coffee's.

she got there with coffee's and guard said (what I already knew) that she couldn't take them in. Said we had lots of time and just to stand out there and finish them

Finished them about 10 mins later - guard asked if we won (roll up) and we didn't

Got us thru the Airport check in type thing - make sure you take everything out of your jacket pocket! some guy next to us did not and had to put his stuff thru like 3 times - they were getting ANGRY with him!!! we had no probs tho :)

He handed back my passport, letter and gave me a letter D. I was like damns, I am going to be here awhile =/

sat in a waiting area downstairs - they said someone would come get us at 8:05 - he was right on time - came and got all of us and took us up to floor 19.

there they seperated the CR1 visa's and the K1/Finance visa. They also took my ltr/passport/medical. I sat there with about 4 other couples. at 8:30 my name was called FIRST! I was like WOW! how did that happen, I was the LAST one there!

went up to window 9 - he was a funny guy, asked for my photo's, xpress envelope, and Travis's 2008 Tax returns - handed them all to him - he was joking around with my mom and I and then told us to go back and sit down and he was going to work on my papers.

Sat back down for about 5 mins (this was when I met July09bride) we chatted, then my name got called again - they took my finger prints - then asked me to go back and sit down again.

Sat back down and chatted again (yes I am a talker!! hahaha) then called into room 7 - lady was all business - I had to raise my right hand and swear to tell the truth...etc....she then asked a few questions about when we met, if I lived anywhere other than Canada for 6 months or more, how long was the longest I ever stayed in the US at one time. then said ok looks like all is in order - we are going to keep your passport and mail it back to you - told me about an envelope that was going to be with it and not to open it and told me I have 6 months to cross into the US. (interview was about 5 mins I think)

then said she was sure I had a lot of questions and handed me a piece of paper that said Welcome to the United States of America and had instructions/guide lines on it.

I was in awe, I cried one tear - I would have cried more but I think I was still in a bit of a shock. She never actually said I was APPROVED, so I was a little confused as well =p

so I walked out with my welcome letter :) hugged July09bride, told her my happy news - got my mom and went back to the hotel to tell my hubby :)

so - was quick & painless :) I was out of there before 9:30!!!

Wonderful news! Congratulations!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
