Hello there VJ Family! I am wondering, after having waited patiently for over 150 days, and watched petitions that were filed months after ours get approved... Does anyone know why about 10-20% of all petitions filed are not processed with the others? What happens that the majority of the petitions are processed in a reasonable timely manner, seemingly in order, yet others are left to "hang out to dry" for indeterminate amount of time? How is it that some get approved in a month or two and others wait for over a year when the USCIS policy states that all petitions are processed in the order that they were received? What is the process whereby this occurs and what can be done to resolve this unreasonable delay for some of us? All of us US Citizens have our rights to due process - so what gives? Does anyone have any ideas? Help!

Couple of things at play here.

One is that most of our information is based on VJ member's timeline data - VJ members represent a very small portion of folks who have active cases at USCIS (or somewhere in the pipeline) - as a result we can really not watch other member's case approvals the same way we might a waiting list at a restaurant (you know, the 'hey, we got here before them but they got a table first' kind of analogy).

Secondly - not everyone's cases are the same (not the same background, evidence, circumstances etc.).

And perhaps lastly - some members do not add or update their timelines quickly or at all and this tends to sour the numbers sometimes.

As a general rule - the estimated adjudicated date(s) in our timelines tend to be pretty accurate, most of the time (for most folks) and also tend to get more accurate/stabelize as you get closer to the possible date(s).

Hope that helps a little...

Check out the Q&A with a former Adjudicator. This was extremely eye-opening.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments. Still, the discrepancy in the amount of processing time between a month or two and a year or more is not at all reasonable or warranted - even allowing for the individual differences in cases. I read the Q&A with a former Adjudicator, and still do not understand why such a lag for some. In today's day and age when all the required information is instantly available there should be no reason people are made to put their lives on hold for months for processing which, according to the former Adjudicator, takes about 15 minutes to complete. Peace and Blessings to all of us
