So, I am lucky and grateful to have put this whole K-1 story behind me, but have a friend who is trying to get his fiancee over here. He is talking about involving the governor (mind you, they just filed) and asking him the speed up the process.

Did things change (it has been 3 years since I started and went through this) will this actually do any good? I thought the governor can't do anything until you are out of the window? I am just confused why (besides the obvious desire to have this over and done with) you want to pull the big guns this early in the game?

Anyone tried and been successful with this? (they are going through a personal friend of the Gov', so it's not just a shot in the dark kind of thing)

Thanks and good luck to all of you.

It was hard, but SO worth it!

Governors are state administrators. They have nothing to do with visa issuance.

None of the U.S. Senators or Members of Congress can help, either. With very few exceptions, the process will take as long as the USCIS decides it will take. If it seems the petition is buried in some dark corner after 5 months, then is the time to ask a Senator's office to help get USCIS to dig it out.

I am aware of that. There have been cases when it moved out of the process window a call to your state administrator can speed up things again. So, what if you do it early in the process.

Thanks for the reply though.

That is the opinion I have had. I guess that is why I am asking here. Bigger pool of experiences.

Governors have no standing with USCIS or the Dept. of State. Someone in the governor's office might contact a Senator's office, which in turn would contact USCIS to ask the status, and in reverse order the governor's office would tell the constituet what they found out....
