I was hoping to find some people that have done a K1 from Thailand before........ I was curious how long it takes from the time you file the application, and pay the $455, to when she actually gets the Visa. This is barring anything being wrong for whatever reason. I was seeing time lines anywhere from 2 months to over a year..... what is the average wait time?

Thanks for your input : )

We sent the paperwork in October 17th. We are now approaching the final step of the interview, at which point she could receive the visa. We've had no delays, barring an additional week wait for the police certificate. We're coming up on six months now. Looks like it will take about seven months total. With the current processing times being what they are at VSC, it seems like this could be your minimal wait time. So anticipate anywhere from seven to ten months.

We applied sent our K1 Visa petition on Sept 26, 08 and her interview was on March 19th, 2009. (Visa in hand on March 23). So just about 6 months. We had no RFE's and everything went seemlessly. Research this board for answers to your questions as everything has been covered over and over again. Follow the guides and you'll have few headaches along the way.

Another good resource for your fiancee could be: www dot usvisa4thai dot com. This is a Thai language site that allows for Thai's to talk "thai" to other Thai's regarding their US visa process.

Just 5 days now until I return to Thailand and bring my fiancee back with me...so the journey is just about over. Just hope all the protesting in Bangkok settles down! Good luck

Check our timeline to see our journey. We applied in September. We had a fairly typical (back then) process to NOA2 - about 4.5 months. CSC is moving faster these days. No RFEs. But we then got stuck in AP at NVC which cost us close to 2 months of waiting time. And even after our release from NVC things have been moving painfully slowly. It has taken inexplicable weeks to get the paperwork moved from NVC to the consulate and generating a Packet 3 to us. We had all the material ready to reply the Packet 3, and popped it back into the mail the very next day. Then we hit more delays, Songkran, the street protests.... we are still waiting for an interview date to be scheduled. I'd like to hope that the whole process end-to-end will be over by June (that will make ~ 10 months start to finish), but I've come to realize that any target date I put on it just leaves me disappointed.

It could be worse - we've got one guy (Hyena) that's still waiting on his NOA2 since last summer :(

I think after all is done, I'll be looking at a year. I submitted my stuff early August and haven't even gotten a second notice yet. From what I understand only 1 1/2-3 months after the second notice.

Then you have to negotiate the interviewer at the embassy in Bangkok...NOT fun for fiancees (research interviews). I've also met people with horrible experiences (bring double originals of police, hospital and eligbility to marry "bai rub ron sod" from her amphur and get two so when the assistant says it's not in the file, you'll have another original.

Apparently they're famous for playing games with fiancees. Seems they make about half of them cry for some reason (some)...others it's a breeze...the one's they interrogate 'till they cry it's high pressure and lots of accusations so make sure she's well versed before going into the blender
