POE question - UKC to enter through CND-US land POE

hiya.

so my british fiance will hopefully soon be approved to come to the US on a K-1 visa. since i live very near to the canadian border in vermont, flying to montreal is a tempting (and sometimes cheap) idea. so we are thinking about having him fly into montreal and i would pick him up at the airport and then we would drive south across the border (stopping of course!) to head back home together.

i am wondering if anyone has experience or comments about entering at a CND/US land crossing as a non-canadian citizen on a visa, more specifically a K-1 visa holder?

a lot of the POE reviews for CDN/US land crossings seem pretty positive, so im interested in learning more.

and if there is a better place to post this sort of questions, please let me know!

I didn't do it myself but I can't see it being a problem. A POE is a POE.

the only thing i think could be a hitch is the fact that the CBP may be more accustomed to processing canadian citizen's visas. but i know that lots of different people cross the border. the last time jamie and i flew into montreal and then drove down to vermont, there was a greyhound bus crossing with many different nationalities. (from what i remember, some were tourists and some were students. many had a hard time communicating with the immigration officer. but the seemed to get it worked out.)

im going to tell jamie to at least investigate flights from manchester (UK) to montreal just to see if there are any super-good deals.

I can't find the threads now but I do remember at least 2 other Brits entering on their K1s via a Canadian land border and they had no problems at all. I know of others who had connecting flights in Toronto and used that as a POE, again with no problems.

Hi Mr and Mrs. The Canadian POE won't be any different than any other POE. There are quite a few members who went that route due to the cost of airfares. Jundp comes to mind.. I believe her SO came in from Germany. The nationality doesn't change the way a visa is processed, so he'll be just fine.

My husband flew from Stuttgart to Vancouver because the one way ticket was about 400 Euro cheaper that way. I drove up to Vancouver, picked him up and we drove through the Peace Arch together. It didn't matter what his nationality was, since the office was only worried he had a valid K1 visa to enter.

I flew from Glasgow to Toronto..... heading for Rochester NY.... crossed at Lewiston bridge.. no problems, was in and out in about 15 min.

I always used that route, ..so did my mother and she had been coming here for 16 years.

Try CANADIAN AFFAIR AIRLINES.. they have good prices, and fly from Manchester too.
