Hello VJ family

My wife is close to her interview at the Jakarta US Embassy. But we were waiting for something that we think might not need to be required. We saw a request for a recent tax return from me the Petitioner. I do my taxes every year on my own and then I usually E-file. But this year we needed to mail it in with a W-7 from my wife and also a copy of her passport to get a ITIN#. I haven't received a check yet or any confirmation that it might be considered filed.

My question is: Do we need to wait for the check to show proof of a return or will a W-2 and a few of my last check stubs meet the requirements of my Evidence of Support without the tax return?

I will ask the question one more time to get the answer we need for the Evidence of Support.

Will two of my last check stubs and a W-2 meet the requirements without my tax return for Evidence of Support?

If I need a most recent tax return to meet the requirements for Evidence of Support, will a copy of the tax return I sent to the IRS meet the requirements?

I have not received a check for the tax return yet. It can take 4 to 6 weeks to show proof of a return through the check amount. Other than that we are ready for interview.

We need immediate answers. My wife has been trying to contact the Jakarta US Embassy via phone and no one is answering the phone for immigration section.

Thank you so much for your responds

God bless

Echo what Thai Rath said... your 1040 and W-2 for 2008 would do. Paystubs: can you produce at least 3 months worth (around 6 paystubs total if you're paid bi-weekly) or print your bankstatement for 3 months, highlighted the part where your company directly deposited the wages into your account.... Remember: You can't give them what you don't have, physically! So, give them the next best thing you can produce. They aren't all that robotic insensitive government workers :)

Wishing you a successful interview... keep us posted.
