What is this "CD PLAYER" of which you speak?

We were at a party last week and the computer was down due to a storm...so the host had to play "CD"s and it was discussed like we were playing freaking records!!

kinda funny

Hey, I still have a fully functional "record player"!!! Linear tracking and everything!!! :D:thumbs:

I still have my old Pioneer turntable and boxes of old analog LP records. I hooked up my old Pioneer stereo receiver and turntable to my computer via the sound card and recorded my favorite songs to digital MP3 on my computer with the MusicMatch software recorder. It is kind of time consuming because each song must be recorded in "real time." It took a while, but I have converted quite a lot of my collection to MP3 and can burn CD's so I can listen in the car. Some of my old stuff isn't even available anymore.

I used to record my LP records to cassette tape to listen in my car, but cassettes are going the way of the dinosaur...into extinction. Just like my old 8-track tapes did. I'm afraid CD's eventually will too. The future is flash drives!

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

The future is flash drives!

that is cool peejay! i have a stash of cd's i wanna copy onto cassettes. me truck has a cassette player. ;)

I have never heard of that. When I was a kid I had no allowance so I would tape Kasey Kasems Top 40 to have music to listen to. :crying:

(I will kill whoever uses this info in the "the person above me thread" )

In the 1980's when CD's first came out our local rock FM radio station KLOL would advertise the newest #1 album to be played on "CD Sunday" commercial free. It was a local fad to record the entire album to cassette from the FM stereo receiver to the cassette deck. The sound quality was great for the technology of the time. The big music recording companies made the radio station quit doing it because it was obvious that people were scamming high quality music for free.

It was early day file sharing before computers made it ridiculously easy. However this wasn't illegal in those days.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Hermano Daniel... might I suggest you update your truck to a CD player instead?!:P

Peejay, that is a good idea. I'd love to make recordings of all my LPs. I have two boxes of them as well, and they are in mint condition. My turntable is a Techniques SL-10, and my stereo system was bought back in 1980 at the Navy Exchange in Subic Bay Naval Base!!! :D
