Cheap shots

Please let me preface this with: "I may not know what I am talking about."

I am in the process of bringing one of the most extraordinary women of any race/creed/nationality to my home to be my wife. She happens to be from the Philippines.

I have been off and on the forum much of the day. What I have seen is one cheap shot after another being thrown back and forth.

I realize that I am just new here, but does this go on all the time?

I guess, I am just wondering -- "why?" What is the point?

Bill, these problems run in spurts here in the forum. It will go on for awhile and then it will be back to normal. Maybe it's boredom that is the root cause of it? I can't make any sense of it...

well before i only read here i dont really post to any comment on it but as time goes on since i was first reader some the old member were posting nonsense topic im happy with this site and my fiance too because it gave us more information about our journey.. i hope this would be over............peace have blessed holy week

Quite embarrassing to be honest with you, people come here for help and the ones who could be helping the most are busy throwing cat ####### from their sand box into the other childrens sand boxes. I have been around for a few of these rounds, but today was the first time I tested the limits of my troll bin. If it ever fills up, I guess I will just have to quit VJ.

it would be great if the webmaster could add a feature to allow any user to hide a post that they didn't want to read replies to, then the kids could fight out of sight of the rest of us.

I do fully understand your sentiments and your frustrations. I know and I can't help thinking that this exhange of cheap shots create bad impression on us, Filipinos. I do feel sorry for some of you who find these hurting and disturbing. I was never part of any of these threads, and though, from time to time, I sneak and look at what's going on, I always manage to bite my lips and not comment on anything. That way, the topic would not be pulled atop in line with the other new ones posted and be covered up with the latest, hopefully, more useful ones that were newly created. Everyone of us here does have freedom to post. We can't prevent users from posting what they want to, so probably, if we want these kinds of posts to be minimized, let us not read them so the number of views would be less, and the popularity goes down as well.

When I started on VJ in 2007 the fil forum was pretty tame. Maybe it was a lull time as Charles mentioned. Then came a few, "Why did you choose a Filipina?" threads. This always turned into an ethnic fight which turns into a male vs female fight. Like any fight these threads attracted a lot of VJers, especially the Instigators.

Anyway, that is what I have noticed over the last two years.

Cheap shots - that's all there ever will be to it. But really, what do we get out of it? NOTHING. It won't make me richer. It's an insult to my education and learning.

While reading all the silly childish #######, at the back of my mind I say: At least I got wisdom to save my mind and no one has to read between my sob stories. LOL It's quite amusing if you come to think about it - that there are people who are so easily provoked with mediocre blah.
