Actually, that does bring about a good question, how many people do we have on the wait?

Just think, it's a great invention and would make a fortune. It would change the way we know war today.

You may have to worry about the Clown union though.

Currently I'm just chomping at the bit about a J-1.

Short Story:

My fiance is coming here on a J-1 visa this summer. She sent in her paper work almost two months ago. Come to find out a month later the student exchange office didn't forward the paperwork on yet. The lady at the office didn't realize her departure date was so soon or something to that effect.

So she mentioned something about the office calling the Moscow office and the Embassy and trying to rush the paperwork on. She's only got about a month and a week until she is supposed to fly out. So we're not sure if she's going to get her interview and visa in time. The lady at the office said she would probably get her interview about 4 days before her flight (keep in mind it takes probably a week and change to mail her passport back with the visa).

We're also not sure if she even needs to get an interview since she is a returning student. The office of misinformation said she would need to this year because there are so many students trying to come to the U.S.

So feel free to comment, console or just point and laugh cause we already bought the plane ticket.

You don't have to wait until they deliver her visa to her, she can pick it up at DHL office herself and it will save her a day or two that can make all the difference.

Don't get discouraged, when I went through K 1 process, my fiancee booked me a ticket even before we got NOA 2. Everybody called us crazy but it worked out just fine. I had interview on December 2 and flew to the US on December 24. Had plenty of time to pack and finalize everything.

Good luck!!!!

I'm not sure how the J-1 process works, especially since it's being handled by a work exchange organization. I know they have an office in Moscow as well as the city where she goes to school; so she may be able to have them redirect it to the Moscow office instead. But who knows since the paperwork is already in.

Really the only thing we can do right now is wait for word about the interview. Worst case scenario I'll just have to change her ticket to a couple days later.

My fiance is coming here on a J-1 visa

FRAUD!!!!

You guys are the reason it takes "normal" people so long to get visas. Shame on you. If you would go about the process in the correct manner, we wouldn't have to worrry about waiting so long.

(Just stirring the pot..... as mox said, it's been quite boring on here lately. And, if you really wanna have some fun, go tell the folks in the K-1 forum your fiancee will be coming here "for a visit" using a J-1. You'll probably be standing there with the ICE officers at the POE due to some "anonymous" tip from someone on VJ.)

Hope this works out OK for you. My step-daughter tried to come here 2 years ago on a J-1 and was denied because her mother was here and because she had been here before on a K-2. The agency she was using in Russia was taking care of the plane ticket and insurance. She did get a refund for most expenses after her denial.

:D

Waiting for NOA2 patiently, and more recently sometimes a little perturbed to see more people receiving NOA2 that received their NOA1 1-3 months after I received my NOA1. When looking on Igor's list it seems 17 out of 20 show in Dec 08 - Feb 08 being approved. This has consistently been the case for the past several weeks. It doesn't seem normal, but I can't really say as I wasn't tracking the list regularly in the past.

Nothing can be done about it so I must just remain patient and treat it like a headache - when it is no longer there I can't remember what it felt like.

At least we use Skype on weekends so I get to 'see' her. Her English is constantly improving and my Russian is improving.

13 Apr 2009 - Sent to Embassy

In that case:

Her point of entry will be Fargo, North Dakota. And she'll be carrying a Canadian passport.

But seriously, for those who haven't been keeping up on the story. We are NOT getting married or pulling some sort of fraud. She's just coming here for a few months to work/visit, then going back and finishing her last year in school. And we'll be filing for K-1 at the end of the summer when she returns to Russia. So put down the torches and pitchforks.

Also:

Blame Slim for applications taking so long. I heard he files complaints about K-1 filers with immigration. Something about their lack of having a deep love for the taste of pie and smell of gunpowder.

Bobb, you should be seeing your NOA2 *ANY* time now.

So mox, are you prescient?

I arrived home from work moments ago and here is what was in an email:

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On April 3, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Yahoo!!! So, if everything follows what seems to be the length of time from this point onward I am guessing her interview will be in Moscow in mid June and I will go get her in mid July. As soon as I find out the interview date for sure I will then make my airline reservations.

I was really surprised not to receive an RFE. It doesn't matter how much you look at the application before you send it in. I reviewed it three times and still had two minor mistakes on her G325a.

Her middle name is Viktorovna which I spelled Viktrovna.

I had inserted the date of my previous marriage for her date of previous marriage. This is the item I really thought I would receive an RFE about, as this date was well past her date of divorce. It would have been simple to respond to and I figure would have delayed it about 5 days or less.
