This happened yesterday at Kwik Trip parking lot. I drove my husband to work and we stopped by at Kwik Trip for him to get some pops and papers. We parked next to a truck and my husband went in the store. While I was waiting in the car, these two guys came out from the store, got in the truck next to my car, started to back up and boom... they hit my car ! We parked side by side but they pulled in a little bit further, so when they were backing up, their front tire hit my front bumper !!

I waited until they fully backed out from their lane and got out to see if there was any damage. Those two guys didn't even bother to step out and check their vehicle. I cursed "stupid !" at them and one of the guys just said "well, that kind of things is just gonna happen one of these days !":ranting::ranting:

I was just pissed and at first, I thought there was no damage, so I didn't really say anything and the truck just left. I told my husband what happened as soon as he came out from the store and he looked at the front bumper and we found a dent and long black scratch mark !! :ranting:

I told my husband that I noticed that these guys were wearing the same uniforms as he does so they must have worked at the same place. We hurried out of the parking lot and went right to his workplace (it's only 2 minutes drive from the store), drove around trying to find the truck to no avail. My husband then told me to go home and said he would try to find this truck later during his break.

I went home, called the police and gave him all the info. The officer took pictures of the damage, but he said he could not consider this as "hit and run" since I didn't tell the other vehicle to stop and didn't declare any damage to them either. He assured me that they are still responsible for that and would try to find them.

2 hours later my husband called and told me that he found the truck ! He even said that there was some scrape marks on its front tire that matched my car's color so we were sure that we found the right vehicle. I went to his workplace with a camera and we took pictures of this truck, called the police back and gave him the license plate number. We were quite happy now and we hoped that we would not have to pay any deductible to repair my bumper since this was not my fault at all.

It turned out that this truck belongs to my husband's workplace and they only used it to do some surveillance in their property and it was not supposed to be taken outside at all. When my husband got back to work today, the security guy that's in charge for this truck said that they denied our allegations, told my husband that they didn't even drive this truck outside their property yesterday, bla bla bla... That really pisses us off !! :ranting::ranting::ranting:

So now we are waiting for the investigation, and hopefully the police can get video surveillance from the store that showed this accident. The thing that makes me soooo mad is not the damage that this accident caused, but that these a$$#### are trying to get out of it and screw us off !!

The way to find out if you love someone or not, is by talking to them.

The more you talk to them the more you either hate them or love them.

Thanks !! I was sooo pissed earlier because I thought after all the "hard work" (driving around hubby's workplace parking lot, taking pictures and calling the police) I would still get screwed. That Kwik Trip lady really put a smile back on my face :)

Well... here is an update. The police just called and said they reviewed the tape, but they don't think that we got the right vehicle. He said that my hubby's workplace claimed that the truck was just sitting in their parking lot for days since it was not really in good condition.

The thing that made me mad (again... ) is that it sounded out the the police reviewed the tape on the wrong time frame. When he came two days ago, I already told him that the accident happened around 4.35 PM, and guess what his first question when he called me back today ?? "What time did this accident happen ?":ranting::wacko:

Then he said, he already reviewed the tape and he could not see the truck, and there were some other things that made him think that we got the wrong vehicle:

- he said the scrape mark on its tire didn't look like it came from hitting a car, it looked more like someone scraped their boots on it --> i have no comment on this, i'm attaching the picture that we took and maybe any of you can tell if it looks like boots scrape

- the vehicle as well as the interior was dusty, so it looked like it has been sitting there --> my argument: this truck parked in dusty gravel sandy lot, of course it's gonna be dusty all the time.

Then he asked me again how my husband knew that that was the truck if he was not there when the accident happened (he was in the store). Again I had to tell him that when we pulled in, the truck was already there, so my husband saw what the truck looked like. He asked me to give the description about the truck again, and asked me if I'm sure about it. I think this is just soooo dumbbbb !! One cannot be absolutely sure about something like that, who would have paid attention to detail of what kind of cars that parked next to their vehicles ???? So I just told him: "Well, I could not say I'm 100% sure because I didn't pay attention when we pulled in, but I can tell you that it's a white pick up truck, with something on the back."

And then he said that my hubby's workplace complained that my hubby has been accusing them and some people were mad about that, so he advised me to tell my hubby not to say anything because it won't get him anywhere !! :ranting: I was sooooo furious about this !! I know for a fact that my hubby didn't go around and accuse people, he was just trying to find the culprit ! He might tell some of his friends about what happened and of course he would share that it was company's truck and so on, but it doesn't mean that he "accused" the company !!

Before he hung up, I asked him if his conclusion that it might not be the truck was because he reviewed the wrong time frame. He just said: "Well, I reviewed the tape from 4.45 PM and above, but with this new information I will go back to Kwik Trip and look at it again." I want to ask your opinion, what can you infer from his statement ??? I would say he made a mistake and reviewed the wrong time frame....

I'm just soo pissed about this, I started to think that there is some kind of "funny" thing going on between the company and the police. I guess we will see...

Oh, here is the picture that we took...

Sorry you had to go through this. We just picked up our car yesterday from the body shop. SOmeone backed into us at a parking lot and then went on to curse and yell at us saying we must be drunk or high or something. (NOTE-- we were no way in the wrong here) So we just remained quiet. Took pictures and waited for the police. She then asked the police to give us drug and alcohol teste and started yelling at the police. I was sure we were going to have some sort of investigation--but when we called the insurance the next day--there was no fuss.

Still I understand the injustice you must feel. Hubby and I were so ticked at this lady fornot only causing damage to our car but also having the gall to say we were lying (she insisting that we were backing up too--which we weren't) and that we were drunk and high.

Thanks, I know how you and hubby must have felt. At least you dealt with personal vehicle and caught them on the spot. There is no fuss with our insurance company, they even made appointment for us already with body shop (it was the same place where we bought our car), but we will have to pay for the deductible until they can prove that i was not at fault.

I really hate it that the police officer did not pay close attention to what I said. Now I kinda regret that I reported it to the police, maybe we should just keep it quiet and tell our insurance that we got hit by deer or something, there is a big chance that we will end up having to pay deductible anyway. I thought that justice system here is much better than back home, that's why I called the police. I guess it's just about the same everywhere. I'm thinking to just drop the case or something now, it is no good, put us in too much stress. I have a very important college entrance test coming up in a week, I really don't need this mess.
