OMG!! computer illiterate people... SUCK. We just got a new POS at our work, with new options and a different method for layaways... and O-M-G... 2 of the girls I work with just stand there and stare at it. They wont ask for help, but they dont know what they are doing. Drives me NUTS. Somehow they think they can Jedi mind trick the comp into doing what they want it to do.... sheesh :( Yay for long weekends. I dont have to deal with it until tues again :)

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

This woman that I work with, missed two days of work last week because her cat had cancer and had to be put down. She came into work on friday, but broke down and was crying and couldn't get any work done. She submitted paperwork to apply for bereavement leave, for the death of her cat......

I have sympathy for people who lost a pet. They say that we feel so strongly about our pets because there is only love, and no mixed emotions like with humans. But, come on, bereavement leave for a pet dying?

To some, pets are considered family. So why not!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Most annoying co-worker is definitely my boss.

First of all, I have a bowl of M&M's sitting on my desk for all to enjoy. He likes to go to the bathroom, not wash his hands (he's not in there long enough to do so, he's in and out of there in 30 seconds) then grab a handful of M&M's on his way back to his office. Gross. Needless to say, I do not eat from the bowl - ever. And in fact have taken it down.

Secondly, he's married, two kids (his daughter used to work here until just a few months ago), an elder at his church, and does marital counseling 2 nights a week for couples in the church who are having problems. What does he spend 1/2 his day doing while at work? Chatting with women on yahoo messenger. My desk is about 20 feet from his door and all I hear all afternoon is: type type type...pause...type type type...pause, etc.... I only know this because he forgot to log off of it one evening and then left. I went in to turn the monitor off and there it was - him talking about the big O with one of them. Double Gross.

Love the rest of my co-workers and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't still be here!

Bwahahahaa, last week the annoying coworker I was ranting about got her head bit clean off by my lovely, classy, empowered black coworker who is her occasional friend. She is such a lady, but to see her go OFF like that was priceless. Such a happy, happy memory. :dancing:

I hate it when people play stupid, or say: "I didn't know" I just don't accept "I didn't know" as an excuse, because you can always ask, investigate or figure things out.

Every office employee at my work has the same programs on their computer and only half know how to use them. So you get people sending emails, or phoning someone else, who will phone someone else, who will tell me. By the time it gets to me: "Print me out a report" can sound like: "Mother theresa's torte" broken telephone.

Yet they ALL have the ability to open up the program and print a damned report themselves.

Donne moi une poptart!

People do that all the time where I work. I have a boss with zero BS tolerance and if you try that on him, he'll look up your personnel file to see if you were trained on that software/hardware and if not, he'll send you to get trained.

Sooooo, I see as I walk in this morning that the three ladies at work whom are obsessed with Sex In The City have booked a conference room for a "lunchtime meeting" this week and twice next week. They dont' work in the same department and have no business together. It's really that obvious that they are just going to have lunch and make plans to go see Sex In The City when it comes out. Seeing as that conference room is the only one with WiFi and AV, I'm going to go to my boss and have them have to justify their meeting because I have an important meeting that i'm going to schedule at the same time.

There are several people who do this at my job and it absolutely infuriates me. They will take their lunch and 30 minute break back to back to have a 90 minute lunch. During this time, they will go run errands, socialize, take a nap, whatever. They will pick up some food or have their lunch from home and go back to their desk and eat..... after their 90 minute lunch. I wouldn't care, except for the fact that I need to get data from two people before I can do a daily report I have to do. Usually, they will sit at their desk and read ####### off the internet for 15-20 minutes. Well, today, one of them is stretching it to 45 minutes. Really? a 2 hour, 15 minute lunch? I really ought to tell their supervisors what they are doing, but I don't wanna be a snitch.

I have a crazy coworker. Literally.

And my week has been so stressful, so I am back at VJ, venting.

Last Thurs, this crazy coworker took exception of something I said in passing the day before. My comment was not malicious or inappropriate or anything. Heck, I don't even know what she was upset about. All I know was Wed noon time, we were laughing and giggling hysterically about life. But sometime during that, I said something inappropriate to her that kept her up all night long and disturbed her. So she wrote me an email Thursday at 2:30 in the morning that I need to only talk work-related talk to her. So when I got that email, I was confused and asked her what I did wrong. She refused to talk to me, walked out on me in the middle of me trying to talk to her, and just told me that she does not want to talk to me. So I shrugged it off, left her alone, and when I was ready to go home, waved goodbye -- and she waved back and even wished me a happy weekend...

Come Monday, I receive an email from her that she is taking time off from work because she could not tolerate the verbal abuse that I subjected her that Thursday. She claimed that I went apesh*t on her, threatened, intimidated, verbally assaulted her, that I assassinated her character. She said that she was sooo fearful of me during my mental breakdown that she was ready to call the cops in the event that I would try to hurt her by hurling the computer at her. And she said that if I ever repeated that abusive behavior, she will not only call security but call the cops, because she needed to protect her mental health.

Good god. I don't even know how I got through that day because all I wanted was sit in front of the computer and stare at that email. I was sooo freaked out that I quit the lab that I had planned to teach, which she will be prepping for (she works at the college that I am in). I reported her to my big boss and told him that I refuse to teach the labs. AND on top of all of that crazy nonsense, I felt like I had to defend myself against these insane allegations to people who have known me since I was in college, who have been part of my life, who attended my college graduation, who Ive worked with every single day since I got this job. And I cried. I hardly cry. I fight back, but this is one fight I was not going to face. Monday evening, when hubby and I were finally alone, I sobbed so hard my eyes were so swollen.

Anyway I am just so exhausted from this... but I needed to vent to keep my sanity.

Finally married... and still married... ;)
