I need to point this out:

Statistics such as unemployment rates, etc. are not entirely real.

They do not count all kinds of people....for example anyone not receiving unemployment, and/or not actively job-hunting.

There are other factors that count people out.

The true numbers are too staggering to publish....both for number of the unemployed and the inflation rate.

See for yourself....

The government is great at creative accounting!

Ha!

Too true. "Discouraged Workers" are not included in the figures (those that started looking for work but stopped actively looking).

I'm just glad I work in a fairly recession proof industry.

Actually, Spirit and fozzie, if you actually take a look at the bls website's data section, you'll see that they do still publish the very metrics you both think they don't. Perhaps you both should spend more time there and less time on conspiratorial "the government is evil" blogs.

That's okay Randomizer, you can love, believe and agree with the government all you need to.

I do not mind.

And because of unemployment more shanty towns are popping up around the US.

Tent city, USA! -------> Fresno, CA is the shanty town capitol right now.

Itz good that the gummint allows tent cities, so at least that keeps people from being homeless. Most big cities have cops that will just keep telling you to move on. Itz hard even to find a good doorway to defecate in. :star:

Pooing in a doorway is not my idea of the American dream for anybody.

Look up the difference between the U-3 and U-6 unemployment metrics published by the BLS. It's not the BLS's fault you choose to limit your awareness to U-3.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I thought it was all happening April 1 - my last paycheck was the same

Oh this is sucking then. I see what happened. Up to the 13th I was claiming 11 dependants and only $97 was being taken out. 2 weeks ago I lowered that to 5 and I saw a small bump in the next paycheck. It says 5 on that stub, so I thought the change had already gone into affect.

This week my tax has literally doubled to $194 for two weeks with the same 5 dependants. I can see now that the data actually changed but the rate change hadn't actually gone into affect yet. The reason for the small bump was that I actually earned more on that paycheck. :bonk:

Can't wait to see what the next paycheck brings me... :help:
