I sent copy of passport, wedding cert. and my husbands birth cert. NVC said they sent a Check list asking for me to send them again. I sent them already, I even did a check list for the cover page of everything in the package. I sent one big envelope with a smaller envelope inside the big one, the smaller one had the original birth certificate with the 2 passport pictures and the police record. So how could they miss that. I only have one original birth certificate and I sent them the one I have.

I also Have a question about filing for my step daughter, If my husband’s paperwork is already in the last stage process and almost being completed is there anything that I can do to get her in the same time frame as my husband. What paperwork should I file?

Does anyone think they made a mistake? I also would like to know what I can do for my step daughter who is 7 years old.

If you sent originals of abirth cert, marriage cert, and police clearance, there should nto have been a problem. They may have missed it, maybe try calling and talking to an operator. NVC recommends putting the case number on all docs before sending. I used sticky notes on each doc, with the doc name, the word "original" or "photocopy", and the case number. That makes it easier to identify for them.

Hi,

Is your birthcertificate one that was issued recently or more than 2 years ago? That could be the problem too. I know for Guyana, your documents cannot be more than 2 years old.
