The absolute epitome of what's wrong with this country, and its celebrity obsessed culture. A vile creature, of zero discernible talent, without whom the world is a considerably better place.

There, I said it.

I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, and I'm only too conscious of her two small kids who are now motherless but, yes, Jade herself is no great loss to the world at large.

For the media to be comparing her to Princess Diana is just, well, a classic example of the celebrity culture in the so-called "developed" world.

I was disappointed that she was a celebrity in the first place because that fact celebrated ignorance and a lack of education.

However its a tough way to go and in the end all you can ask is that her kids are taken care of, which she did all she could in her final days to achieve.

One difference is that in one year Goody will be largely a buried memory, while Diana is still being raked up (mostly by Dodi's chop of a father).

I think the only people who can say that she was a good or a bad person is the people that knew her in person, the media manipulate celebrity's images as they want, not everything the media say is either true or false, especially with instant celebrities like her.

I barely know who she was, but I heard in the news that her exposure as a cancer victim helped to raise at least a 20% of women that went to have a cervical cancer test. In that way she may helped to save other people's lives. That is the only good media I heard of her, otherwise media portrayed her as a evil racist b*tch.

Anyway cancer is a really bad way to die, I do not wish it to anybody not even people I dislike.

Indeed.

As for the 'like Diana but from the wrong side of the tracks' quote, that's just BS. Yes she made people aware of cervical cancer but she will be forgotten in about 6 months time. Diana is remembered for the good work she did, Jade will be remembered for her ignorance, racist comments, and loud mouth. Diana'a death was a huge blow to this country, I doubt Jade's has been however harsh that sounds.

Neil made a nice comparison the other day. He said Jade's death will be like Anna Nicole's, everyone made fun of her when she was alive, and now that she's dead she'll be a hero.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I kinda resented the whole furore over Diana's death - I felt that a great deal of the supposed "national grief" was contrived by the media, and I didn't like being manipulated into feeling that her death was some sort of huge tragedy to the world.

It was certainly unfortunate that she died and her kids were left without a mother and I certainly didn't wish ill on her, but to tell the truth she was never a particularly relevant celebrity figure to me and I wasn't anymore shocked by her death than I was by any story about people being killed on the roads.

The whole performance at the funeral (which you couldn't escape unless you shut off the TV for two weeks) just made me cringe - especially when they wheeled out Elton John for a commemorative song and dance for the occasion - left me totally cold.

That said, she was someone who had more of a public face than Anna Nicole Smith, whose entire persona was a media construct.
