i was in the same boat. the CSC is 2 hours away from my house yet it's been 2 weeks w/o a notice letter. i kept checking my online banking then asked here on the forum, which came first: the cashed check or NOA1. apparently it was either. finally got my NOA1 16 days after i mailed it.

you can also check the immigration timelines on this site. that's how i got an average time of when i should be expecting any letters from them. just hang in there. i know it's hard, i'm also just starting the journey. i'm actually leaving again next week, this time spend a month with my wife. good luck and make sure everything you submit is correct. you don't want to get any RFEs that will further delay the process

BrownHorse, you have two choices: become self absorbed in missing your wife, or become constructive in the coming months. You've entered a lengthy journey out of love, and love can carry you through the many days to come.

If you're stressing over NOA1, you'll burn out quickly and become useless. Find ways to communicate with your wife regularly and to pass the time doing things that will make your eventual life together more worthwhile. Whining and wringing your hands is allowed, but this strategy does nothing but make you unrecognizable to your wife when you're reunited, because you'll have so many gray hairs. Buck up!

Must say I am very glad after reading the title to your post that you are not in need of a kidney or anything like that. Although everyone's case is different it helped me to check timelines and follow others that had similar ones to us. Also make your time apart productive and prepare for your future together. Before I was able to move we spent our evenings online making plans. We shopped for furniture together online for our new house, which I even got to help pick out after house shopping online. My husband took lots of pictures of the area where we live now and shared them with me. It is much more fun to dream of what is to come then to dwell on where you are at if you are stuck apart. Good luck in your journey.

Wonderful idea !! thanks for the suggestion. The only problem is my wife lives in a small village and doesnt have access to internet. However, i have found a site where i can call her on landline almost for free using my internet, a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) service. I have been tlaking to her almost everyday now and preparing for our future together ! I still miss my baby a lot..she the best thing ever happened to me and she had made me the happeist man ever since the marriage, ever since the day we met and fell in love !

Check the timelines and you will see that 2 weeks is not long at all. In fact if you had received it at this point I would say that it has gone by very quickly. There is a girl on here who sent her I-130 out on April 27th and just had her check clear yesterday. Yes that's almost 2 months. I sent mine out on the 24th of May and my money order hasn't been cashed. You are probably going to have to wait 3 to 6 weeks for your NOA 1 based on current stats.

It is better for your emotional state of being to have an understanding of reality. I know it can be uncomfortable to think about, but reality is reality and accepting it leads to peace of mind. It will probably be 6 to 9 months before you are able to be reunited with your loved one. It is painful yes, but much less painful than say someone who has a spouse sent to Iraq for an indefinite amount of time with the risk of being killed. We have it much better than some people.

It's a long hard process, I'm in the same boat with you there...it's really painful being apart from your spouse. The only thing I've found that has helped lift my spirits was this forum. You'll find answers to questions that will spring up here before you do anywhere else. Stay strong!

Waiting for the NOA 1 is tough because we have nothing to track, no way to see progress. I think once you get the NOA 1 and you can start tracking your case online you will feel a measure of relief.
