Did I get the right SSN card?

I applied last week for Social Security card and showed my passport and Employment Authorization card as proof of identity and eligibility respectively. This afternoon I received my SSN card in the mail but it says "Valid for work only with DHS Authorization" on it. Is this the right card for me? I'm just wondering why it says that on my card.

Yes, it is the right card. You need to show your EAD (later, green card) to prove eligibility for employment.

when u get your green card you can go back to the social security office and show them the green card and they will send you a new card minus the "Valid for work only with DHS Authorization" on it.

Also, it bears my complete middle name, is that how it's supposed to be? cuz i thought only the middle initial would appear on it. Please excuse me for being too paranoid.

It (your middle name) is not a problem - you got the card and the number now - that's the important part. Congrats...

If you got in the US through a K1, then I think you had the right SSN.. I had those words printed in my SSN card too.

I agree with you Karin und Otto! You could later have your name changed in your SSN when you get your EAD card soon.

Yep, u got the right card. Just show ur EAD when you apply for a job to prove your eligibility.

You can go back to SSA with your Green Card and have a new SSN card without the DHS authorization thing written on it.
