My life has definitely got better as I have got older... I don't look 50 (or so am told) but hey I don't care if I do!!! My nephew sai to me yesterday when I asked him to guess how old I am... Bua you are 1 million years old :lol::lol: he then proceeded to ask me if I had any grey hair and I said lots but I colour it

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

I wouldn't want to go back to being in my teens/early twenties for anything. I am sooo much happier now in my 40's than I ever was then. There is a level of self-acceptance, gratitude and inner peace I believe comes with aging thats very freeing. My experience(and most of my friends) has been that life definitely gets better with age.

I think life does get better as you get older....you're more comfy in your own skin, you've figured out whats really important and what is not...you know what you want , and especially what you need. It's all good :D I spent time when I was younger wondering what people thought....the answere in most cases is...they thought nothing, they were too busy getting on with their own stuff !! I only concern myself with the opinions of people I care about, and they think I'm pretty fab !! Someone once said " youth is wasted on the young ".....maybe they are right ;)

I'm turning 40 too next tuesday, basically I don't think I am any happier than when I was younger. I think actually when I was younger life had more excitement cause I used to do a lot of crazy things. We still do alot of crazy things, but I basically don't get so excited over doing them.

I notice I like to tie on a good buzz now and then with a couple of friends, and can do so without getting much of a hangover like I used to get in my younger days.

Basically with problems and peole I have mostly been through it all already once or twice so I know what my chances are of getting through it again.

I know how to weigh my choices, and fight to get what I want better than I did in my younger days.

I know how to stick up for myself a little better too, although I still try to avoid conflict at all costs.

The weirdest thing is working with 19 year olds who think I am OLD ( actually I could be their mother)>>>but I don't give a Sh8t. I just tell them wait till you get to be 40. I do all the work around the place anyway, they come dragging in each morning acting like they are 90. Although dumb kids stay up all night and don't get any sleep. I don't sacrifice sleep anymore.

I appreciate this post. I'm 22 and have been feeling sorta like I haven't done enough in life. I'm fairly sure it's just the media. But I look forward to all the wisdom and self discovery that only time can bring.

Definately not going to be down hill. At 46 Im still climbing. I am going to be looked on as an eccentric wench as the years add up. I have been told I am very much like a great aunt that we lost about 10 years ago now. She was an incredible lady, very much the individual despite some weird looks from some lol she was full of life and passion right into her 90's and I am honored to be following in her footsteps.

:) Lorelle I remember someone on this board called you ``kiddo`` once ;) and I was not aware if it was someone form the ``clique`` (someone who knew your age I mean) but either way that was sweet

I am 37 now and think (I do that occasionally  ) ``happiness`` or the lack of it has little to do with the biological age IMO.
