My wife just got an Interview date and it's asking to bring Birth Certificate of hers and mine.

I don't think I have one in hand and I need to go back to my country to get it.

Can I use soemthing to replace it? or Is it necessary?

My wife doesn't have birthd certificate either but she has some sort of Family form that states her birthday and her parents birthday.

Is that ok?

what do we need to be aware at the interview?

Thanks.

The petitioner can use his passport.

Beneficiary needs original birth certificate with its certified translation.

I'm sure you had to send a copy of her birth certificate along with the I-485 to file for her AOS, you can just bring another copy to the AOS interview. Since it sounds like you are a naturalized US citizen, you can just take your naturalization certificate or US passport to the interview, but if they're asking to see a copy of her birth certificate, you will have to bring in whatever you used to get her K1 visa and whatever you sent for her AOS.

I got an RFE at the interview because I did not have the right certified translation for beneficiary's birth certificate.

The IO also asked to see original beneficiary birth certificate and looked at it VERY closely. He also asked to see both USC birth certificate AND passport.

But - in case they want to see it and you don't have it, they will give you a chance to send it in as an RFE.
