Parent's name in my birth certificate are different with their real name

Dear all,

I just realize that my parent's name in my birth certificate are a little bit different than their real name.. do you guys think that will cause a problem or RFE if I already on NVC stage? I know I don't have to worry about it now, but I'd like to prepare everything so when the time comes I will be ready. Do I need to change or apply for a new birth certificate? Thanks a bunch.

What sort of different do you mean? Is it just a question of a misspelling of the name? Your BC will be requested at the interview also, I believe....so it is something that you will need in the future, but I'm not sure that there will be too much cause for concern if it is a question of a small misspelling of a name. How long would it take to request and receive a new correct BC? Perhaps, if you feel you need it, and will have it in time for your interview, you should just have a new BC issued to you.

Hi thanks for your reply.. Well they put my dad's nick name in front of my dad's full name and also put my mom's baptized name instead of her maiden name. Do you think I need to issued a new BC since I put my dad's full name and my mom's maiden name in all of the visa forms? I think it will take about maximum a couple weeks to do that. Oh yeah, one more thing, if I send my original BC, that means I just need to bring a copy of BC to interview at embassy? Is that correct? Thanks.

your Birth certificate should have same parents name as they are in your records. They ask for birth certificate to match you parents name not DOB. For DOB birth they use Passport biography photocopy.

If you are not able to change them than submit along with secondry evidence (search in other posts)

Hi, thanks for your reply.. that really helps. I think I'll try to ask the civil office first to issue new BC for me since I still have time to do that..
