I also think it would be awesome to have our little PCOS support group right here. I know my condition is compounded with my mental illness (yet to be clearly defined, but could be chronic depression or some variable mood thing). They sort of play off one another to make me a big mess overall. I'm currently treating both of them, but to be honest with you, it freaks me out how my mind has been working since I started the anti-depressants. Anyone else have these mind/body issues?

I like that idea Melissa! I'd love for us to form a group. Let's "git-r-done"!

I don't have it, but one of my friends does and she's also used the pill and it went away completely.

Well..I've never heard of PCOS going away completely, but the symtoms can be greatly reduced by meds. It's an endocrine/hormonal disease and stays with you for life. At least that's what every doctor I've been to has told me.

I have been diagnosed with PMSO on 1994. Since then I tried all the BC including patches, rings, etc... And tried the Metformin too. Nothing changed too much...

I also had some problems with depression and took Prozac. It can sound like BS, but that thing is really awesome... Gave me LOTS of energy!

Currently, Im not taking anything... Got tired of so much prescriptions for every lil thing the Docs says... BS... And Im pretty much fine, thanks!

There are so many women with PCOS that I think the govt should create a PCOS awareness day and make it a national holiday.

Rather, they need to find the causes. Perhaps something in the food supply?

please try reading the responses before you post and your ignorance shines through!

PCOS is genetic ... caused by a gene! you cannot change the fact that you have it, just as you cannot change your eye or natural hair color.

PCOS doesn't not go away. THe medication and BC will help balance the hormones and help make things run smoothly. But unfortunately, PCOS is not something that is cured.

Here is a link that may answer some questions for those that are not familiar with PCOS or who have it and want to find out more. I hope it helps.

Totally agree with you Monique....if it were as easy as a food source or something like that, there would be many diseases that could be cured. How I wish there was a cure!!

A very one-dimensional and ignorant response.

There isn't any one cause of PCOS. Rather there are a myriad of factors, and doctor's haven't been able to find any one particular cause. However, it's interesting how the symptoms subside once women adhere to a strict regime of exercise and nutritious food.

Monique, I suggest you stop spamming the boards, stop sleeping on the job, and get out and clean bed pans, then when you are done, here's an interesting website where you may learn something about PCOS >>> www.google.com. Enter the search query, "PCOS". Educate yourself.

Moreover, I know alot about PCOS, as my ex-wife had the condition. It was in my best interests to know and help her.

No one is saying food sources don't contribute to the problem dude...BUT if you did your research you would have already seen that PCOS is genetic. Monique was NOT spamming the board with her information...and since when is a guy this interested in PCOS unless his SO has the bloody disease in the first place and STOP being so dam snotty with your responses. I have educated myself so don't bother to smart off to me. I've lived with this disease since 1989 and I probably know a heck of a lot more than you do. So there!

Ok, the point of this thread was to find out if there were any more women on here that have what I have and to get some advice. Since then, I have found many of you to have it, and found a great deal of comfort and support. This thread is not meant to go off into another direction or start a flame war. I appreciate anyone's input and any resources that one may be able to offer, but please do not start having a go at anyone. I would like to hope that this thread can help not only me, but others as well. I stated before that since I was diagnosed in 1996, there seems to be a whole plethera of information out there that didn't seem to be so vast. Let's not get into a debate of who knows more about it than anyone. If you can't keep it nice, then I ask that you please not post in here. Let's all help one another...

I agree with you Laura but it's not a good thing to have someone come on here and start spouting information that is incorrect as this can lead to a lot of misinformation and confusion. I'm all for keeping this nice and if you've gotten support then great, I'm happy for you. I was NOT, however, trying to start a flame war. My only reason for saying I know a lot about it is because, as I've said, I've lived with this for quite a while and was certainly NOT trying to sound boastful. I would rather NOT have the bloody condition in the first place! I think a support thread here would be a terrific idea. If I've offended you in any way then I publicly apologise to you.

I have actually started to feel better so that is a good sign eh?! We are all here to help and here for support. So if anyone wants to talk, they can pm me or can add me to msn or yahoo!
