my family member ask me this

part 8 is asking about Marital history

the person who is applying for N400 app.. he has girlfriend with one child from her in Canada.. in Canada they call it common law partnership.. .. he can not fill in her name in part 8 because its not his wife, they never married .. should he have to tell somewhere that he has common law partnership in Canada or not

so please tell me what to fill in part 8 .. my guess is just have to mention about the child

Go with what USCIS considers a legal marriage, if married the may want to see a marriage cert, if NOT married then don't bother listing a girl friend or fiancee.

Yes will have to list child though.

Thanks very much

If was married would have to send in proof of divorce for all previous marriages, so if you checked married, they will definitely want a copy of either an annulment or a divorce.

We have a so-called common marriage in Wisconsin, but do not need a divorce to break it off. It's key purpose is for the guy to pay child support and they definitely enforce that part of it. Unless he gets full custody of the kid.
