No, but it can be one-two sentences long just as you summarized above. The important thing is that the letter is on company letterhead and signed by an HR person or your direct supervisor.

Good Luck

What do you mean template? like how it was set up? Both my husband and i had our employers type 1 up on the company stationary, and it included things like how much i make, how long i have been working there, if the job is considered temporary or perminent, and what makes me qualify for the job and not somebody else, like experience, and so on, for my husband, (the intending immigrant, b/c he has been in the U.S b4 and has jobs here, ) we got a letter from both of his employers on company stationary, saying that a position in so and so company is waiting for him doing so and so job, why he qualifies above others, and how much he is being/going to be paid, and if the job is temporary or perminent, pretty much the same thing as mine, just that the job is waiting him and ready for him to start as soon as he enters the U.S. Hope this helps.

This is what I gave to my employer, and it should be on company letterhead.

Basically, your employer letter should state "To whom it may concern: (first name, last name) has been employed full-time with the XYZ Company since 200_ as a (name of your job), and is an employee in good standing with an annual salary of $XXXX. Signed, John Doe, Supervisor (or whatever title)" The letter should be on company letterhead.

Moving to consulate embassy forum, this is not needed until you need to put together the I-134 for the visa interview at the consulate.
