That wacky Petraeus

Betray us? :jest:

I see Steve's buddies have not pulled down this website yet:

https://pol.moveon.org/petraeus.html

I can't speak for Steve but I never supported that characterisation of Petraeus, so wheeling it out here is kinda pointless - unless you believe in guilt by ideological association.

Either way its weird.

Gen. Petraeus Supports Talks With Taliban

Morning Edition, October 30, 2008 · Gen. David Petraeus, who once led U.S. troops in Iraq, becomes head of the U.S. Central Command Friday. That position includes responsibility for the war in Afghanistan. Petraeus already has endorsed reaching out to less-extreme Taliban elements. He also is expected to send more troops and air power to support the war in Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, it shows he knows squat about the Taliban--which by definition is devoid of less-extreme elements.

Reaching out to some Islamic Fundamentalists was part of his successful strategy in Iraq. I think the good General knows what he's doing. :)

No kidding. I'll accept the assumption that every left leaning group like MoveOn.org are my buddies if Bill will openly accept every Right Wing extremist group as his. :) Well, Bill - how about it?

I thought you already made that assumption. Some of the cites you post make it difficult not to make that assumption myself. It don't mean I won't share a beer with you though!

I avoid making assumptions like that. It's nearly as bad as putting words in people's mouths they've never said. ;)

Think of yourself trying to negotiate with David Duke--that's closer to an accurate picture than the General has.

Historically, we have negotiated with pretty shady characters if we believed that a greater good could be achieved. That requires though knowing how far to go and when to say no. I trust the good General has a grasp of the issues.

What's a moderate Taliban? One that sharpens his sword before beheading you.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

0r asks you what side of your head do you want your hair parted on before beheading you.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Taliban can be hippies too?

Yes. Some can even be found hanging out near HATE/ ASSbury street.
