Hey everyone, I went to the District Attorney's office today to get my Police Certificate and they just handed me a little piece of paper saying I didn't have any penal/criminal cases (smth like that), payed a truly significant fee and that was that. Did I go to the right place? Cuz I read on Wiki that to get the police certificate may take a long time....or maybe thats how it works in my country....I'm confused. Can you guys help?

Currently, to obtain a criminal document from the District Attorney's office concerning pending and final criminal and civil cases, one needs to go to the District Attorney's office in the district of their residence, present an ID and pay the necessary fee.

AS LONG AS YOU HAVE PCC FROM YOUR PREVIOUS PLACE YOU LIVED DURINGG THOSE TIME AND IT STATED YOUR NAME, DOB, AGE, AND YOU USED TO LIVE THAT PLACE AND ALSO STATED IN THE PCC THAT YOU HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORDS THAT IS GOOD. THE HEADER SHOULD STATE THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN YOUR CASE, THE DA, DATE AND IF THE PCC HAVE EXPIRATION. IN DUBAI, FOR MY WIFE CASE IT TOOK HER 10 DAYS, WHEN SHE DID HERS IN HER HOMETOWN IN CEBU TOOK ABOUT 10 MINS SO EACH COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT.

PCC NEED TO CONSIST OF YOUR NAME, DOB, FROM TO DATE (MAY VARY), CITY YOU LIVED, APPROVING AUTHORITY AND SHOULD STATES THAT HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORDS OR ANY NEGATIVE INFORMATION ON YOU. K, MAYBE I AM REPEATING MYSELF... BOTTOME LINE EACH CITY OR COUNTRY IS DIFFERENT... GOODLUCK!

Moving to NVC forum, police certs are needed at the time you send DS-230 to NVC for a CR-1 or IR-1 visa.
