Hello everyone!! I had my medical this morning...it went rather smoothly. I bought along my vaccination records, my blood tests and confirmation of pregnancy and they actually reduced my bill from $308 down to $218!! They put in a waiver note for the chest xray and the other vaccinations that are contraindicted. I was given the bunch of paperwork in the sealed yellow envelope to bring to the interview and they advised that when I get into the US I will need to get the TB skin test and the other vaccines completed for my AOS...so im assuming the medical was a pass??

Hi Guys! Thank You for the kind words and the congratulations ... Shay and I spoke last night and we booked the airline tickets for the 14th of April .... I couldn't believe the prices of tickets had doubled in a span of a week to week and a half!

Seriously thou, the interview is nowhere as scary as we work ourselves up to believe ... The people are really nice and they just get to it, no fluffing around... The first lady I saw went thru all the paperwork that I submitted for the pack 3 and put it in the correct order, asked me when I was planning to fly out etc ... Really basic, general stuff...

The same with the actual interviewer ... the questions are really simple that you should know about your partner already ... I had a mountain of evidence with me and they didn't even ask to see one thing, not one letter or phone bill, nothing! ... the only things they asked for were the envelope, visa application fee and passport ..

All in all I was there for 1hour and 15min ... There was 7 immigration visa before me, 3 of which were fiance visa's and they all got approved the only one not approved was the guy with the pending court date but thats not surprising .. so they gave him a piece of paper and told him to send in the court papers etc after the court hearing in May...

Thats great to know!!! We got a bit to go here and I am just biting my fingernails waiting! Oh I was going to ask you, did you take copies of the medical and forms you sent in just in case? Or no?

Hi!

Where did you go for your medical? I know Anne and my fiance had theirs done in Brisbane and they advise to make copies of the medical and then send it to the embassy, therefore no problems with us openinng it...

Also, we sent ours in with packet three since that is what the embassy asked for... but if they advised you not to open you can e-mail the consulate and ask what they advise, do you have their e-mail?

I had my medical done in Sydney. I thought I was able to open and take copies but when I asked the medical secretary she said to leave it closed. Im pretty it said in the letter to send the medical info with the packet 3 also...Im thinking now that maybe because there are some waiver notes in there for my pregnancy they asked not to open it?? I dont know...Im going to email the consulate to find out...

I hate to be a a sad sack here but dont expect anything anyday now when the US government is involved, check out my siggy or jump in the 6th month waiting room, there are plently of people who have had issues with their visas even from countries considered low fraud.

For your sake I hope you dont end up in my boat (its a farely miserably one some days) but I do caution you against getting your hopes up too high this early in the game.

In prep for your NOA2 however you can do the following;

Get a report that lists all your vaccination and make sure that any MMR, tentus, Guardasil, etc shots are up to date.

Start printing off any Emails, Instant msger logs and online call logs that have occurred between you.

Begin putting together a nice little collection of photos of the two of you with dates on them and a written location if possible.

Download the forms you will have to fill in for packet three (from http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1forms ) and look to gather any additional evidence you will need for them.

Organise to get copies of the US Fiance's tax returns over to you, I believe they need the last 3 concurrent years, through check out the guides for a better response.

Remember that your fingerprints and medical, although they could be done now, are only valid for 6 months from issue so you are much better off waiting till you get your NOA2 or packet 3 in the mail to organise to have them done. From what ive seen it really only takes 2 or 3 weeks to have the results for both of those once you undertake them

Hope this helps you somewhat.

Mara

Thanks Mara. I know, im getting a little ahead of myself :) Thanks for all of your help.

:) just dont want to see you in the same little boat im in at the moment :)

Im just waiting for my police certificate and the affidavit of support/evidence from fiance in the US. He's just completed his taxes so he'll probably send them within two weeks. Im kinda stalling it at the moment and hoping to send all paperwork in by end of April/May (4 month expires mid June) so my fam here can spend more time with the baby until end of Oct/Nov...

Not too sure if its a good idea to wait until end of April/May to submit packet 3 though...dont want any hold ups just in case...

Hi,

I am expecting my NOA2 approval any day now and was wondering if there is anything i can do now to prepare for interview in sydney to speed the process up. I have already started working on the I-134 but is there any point getting my police check and medical done soon or should i just wait until i get the information from Sydney.

Thanks Jodie

Hi Jodie :) Sorry I haven't had a chance to say hi to you yet ... Have you received your NOA2 yet? I'm a little confused, are you the petitioner or the beneficiary ... only the petitioner does the I-134 the beneficiary does the other forms found under downloads / K1 visa .... filling them in and gathering all the paperwork that you need will save you time when you get your pack 3 ... I found the thing that took me the longest was gathering the paperwork I needed ...

Hi! Congrats on your visa approval!! I am yet to recieve the NOA2. I know i only filed a couple of months ago and i shouldnt really expect to be approved so soon but over 60% of Jan filers and 20% of Feb filers have now recieved their NOA2. I hope that mine is in the post. I am the beneficiary and i know that the petitioner does the I-134 however as i have completed most of the forms up until now anyway i thought i would get started on this one for my fiancee :). Thanks for the tip, i will start looking at whats required! I hope to have some good news soon!!

Update: It's three days since Matt will be going in for his interview! and I am exicited and yet so nervous.. I am getting worried over petty things, like the affidavit of support, I am currently only studying (don't work) my parents are the sole providers for the affidavit (I hope this is OKAY) they make well above the amount required so that is good so I don't think I should be worried... I am getting so antsy!!

Matt went today to pay the visa fee and the 3kg envelope so all is set to go...

To Mingus, I'd suggest you wait atleast until your case is approved and sent to NVC... your police records go automatically to the consulate, and if they have no record of your case I am not quite sure they are going to keep them.. You can do your medical as soon as you get approved if you wish to. That is what my fiance did. We got approved, it took only about four dayst from NVC to Sydney and it was so quick we had the medical and police records the same weeek.... hope that helps.. You might want to start getting everything ready such as filling out the forms you need to send to the consulate, preparing the affidavit of support, and getting the passport pictures you need to attach to certain forms

Keep us updated!
