I have been using Windows 7 beta since it first became available, I have 2 PC set up as duel boot XP & W7 and they are both working like a dream, had a few software issues but W7 has a compatibility tool that will resolve most issues, more and more drivers are becoming available so hardware issues are less than they were 4 months ago.

IE8 is not my choice for a browser but it works ok and VJ has no issues when I use it. FireFox works well and all the plugins work.

Thw Windows 7 download like has gone from the site and no more keys are available as they have reached the limit on the number of beta testers needed. There is word that more will become available when the next beta version comes out around Aug 2009.

Yeah..IE8 is #######!! Not only does it crash all the time, but the formatting on some pages is all screwed up. However, it is beta. I'm going to install on an alternate machine for now. XP will be here to stay for a while. Has anyone used one of those Acer netbooks? :)

I downloaded it, but have better things to do than to free test for Microsoft.

File name is 7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULFRE_EN_DVD.iso and doing a google search with this name reveals many sources.

Also have a Installing the Windows 7 Beta.doc file and a win7 product key.txt that came with the download.

Total file size is 2,619,375,616 bytes, a bit large to send. Understand the license runs out in August.

So sick of loading Windows and the many other programs, recently redid my step sons Vista computer, so screwed up, had to buy the Vista CD, can't even supply that anymore with hours spend getting rid of all that worthless free trial software. No, removing programs never works, still leaves tons of ####### behind with over 20,000 entries in the registry and some files left under Program files that are almost impossible to delete. What a mess we are paying good money for, then the endless upgrades where rebooting is required each time.

Microsoft cannot get a break. They make a more secure browser and are still canned for it.

I have been using Vista for 2 years now. ever since I updated to the latest hardware, no problems at all. Not one crash in over 7 months.

The problem with vista was people were trying to install it on Amiga grade hardware. There is a reason why a mac costs so much. They are not exactly using 90's hardware.

Windows 7 runs quite smoothly.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Try Revo Uninstaller, it will remove all registry entries when removing a program. And best of all, it's free. Also, if you reinstall from recovery disks and not the Windows DVD, there is a free program called PC Decrapifier that is especially suited to new pc's for removing all the bloatware that comes with them.

I found it on the Bay of Pirates  Attempting to dual boot with Fedora 10.

Thanks!!!

How do you like Fedora, and how hard was it to get the basics working, printing, dvd playback, youtube, etc?

Agreed. Vista runs quite well for the most part. My wife has it on her laptop and it causes no problems. Many people perpetuate the bad reputation even though they don't any experience with Vista. It is a resource hog, but W 7 will fix that. And once IE8 has the bugs worked it, it will probably be fine.
