Ok, we planned to file DCF in Copenhagen. We have an appointment for May 1. I don't know how long it takes to get the visa after that. Of course, they say "up to" 6 months, but I doubt it. This is the dilemma. We have just about gone through all of our savings. I still haven't received permission to work in Denmark (and even if I could, jobs are hard to find). We were considering for me to return to the US and file so I can go back to work and get more money coming in. BUT, I don't know what kind of timeframe we are looking at getting his visa by applying from the US. I read through the forums and I get confused. I see the "approved", but that doesn't mean you actually have the visa, only that the petition was approved, right?

So....if you were in my situation, would you try your hardest to manage and wait until the May 1 appointment for DCF, or would you return to the US and file?

If I were you, I'd stay with DCF. We filed back in August and had our petition approved on Feb. 10. We likely won't have our visa until June so it will hopefully be 10 months from start to finish and I am pretty sure DCF takes less time that that, although I am not sure.

Processing petitions varies depending on what service center you are at. But they do seem to be processing them faster than when I filed.

Good luck with your decision.
