ASUS EEE Netbook??

Howdy,anyone have one of these?? http://eeepc.asus.com/global/index.html We are looking to get one for when we travel, or just to use while Im in class. Any recommendations? What to look for? what to stay away from? Thanks

Don't have that, but my wife and I both have the Acer Aspire One. We both like it and I would go with the 6 cell battery if you have the money.

Get the one with 1 GB of memory and 120 GB of Hard Drive space. It's okay. I bought the one with 8 gb SSD with 1 gb memory for my wife for about 200 dollars. Very light weight, and convenient.

The eee 1000he just came out - best netbook you can get under $400. Has the new atom 280 chip and a 9 hour rated battery life.

The 10" aspire one is ok but the battery doesn't last as long and the mousepad buttons are crappy.

I have the 701. It's great, but the newer ones are sweet. (They're becoming very popular on campus here.) The 1000he is supposed to be great.

The 6 cell battery lasts around 5 1/2 hours on my Acer. I bought a Microsoft 3000 notebook mouse, because I don't like the touch pad of any laptop. I want a mouse to hold on to.

I am able to fit the AC adapter, cord and the notebook mouse in the zipper pouch. I covered the computer with foam sleeve from a portable DVD player. I have that and an external DVD Drive in the main compartment. It's a tight fit, but it's all in there ready to go whenever I want.

The aspire is a little thinner and lighter I believe than the 1000he (which also has the 6-cell battery).

The 6 cell batteries are great - but I think they add a bit of bulk and weight.

Another plus for Asus netbooks is that the memory and the hard-drive are easily accessible for upgrade.

Technically, what ACER has inside is the same as the other brands. Not much difference since ACER don't make the Intel Processor. Analogous to Staples carrying office supplies that Office Max has too.

ACER is generally cheap too.

Get the 1000HE from amazon ($375). You get a better processor, keyboard and battery for not much more.
