my financee is currently getting all documents for the visa appliciation.we hired an k1 specialist to do this for us.we recieved a packge by email ,forms to fill out, etc.i am a little confused by the letter of intent.here it decribes that both financees have to write a letter.we were advised that only the appliciant has to write a affidavit letter of intent to marry, and get it signed by a notery.have we started on the wrong track with this agent, throwing away 5 hundred plus for not knowing the right information.

You both have to write a letter of intent. They do not need to be signed by a notary public. You'll both need to do another one dated closer to the interview date once you get your NOA2. Good luck in your journey. Everyone here is quite helpful to guide you through the process.

Hmmm, your K-1 specialist should of known this....

States right there in the 129F instructions,

5. What Documents Do You Need to Prove That You Can Legally Marry?

B. Provide original statements from you and your fiancé(e) whom you plan to marry within 90 days of his or her admission

I would be looking for some money back from this "specialist"

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
