WHOOOO HOO!!! I just received a letter from NVC dated last week...YES!

Now the 'aw #######' moment: :crying:

My SO is from Kenya but is living in Germany to attend college. She stopped going to school last year because she missed her level exam sitting and couldn't get one before her visa expired. Long and short, she couldn't get another extension and must leave March 5th and so was preparing to go back to Nairobi in anticipation of the K1 interview in March and to see the family etc. since it will be a while before she could travel again.

Now, someone did a switch and the letter from NVC says they would (or have) sent her packet to the Frankfurt versus Nairobi within the week. Since it has been 7 days since this letter was dated, I am guessing it may be there already? My Attorney said he could request that the venue be changed back to Nairobi but its just killing me that we could be so close but not have enough time to pull it off in Germany.

BTW, the Germans are holding her passport at the airport to make sure she leaves. So she only has an official paper to identify herself. Do you think there is any way we can pursuede the Germans to let her stay and get her passport to complete the process? Even if we could get some type of emergency process at the embassy going 14 days start to finish is oh so tight! I had already scheduled a trip for tomorrow to see her in GE am just looking for any advice to use on the ground with USE. :o

The same thing happend to me. We also have a lawyer. What they did is email Iraq (the incorrect country) let them know the situation (my fiance had been wking there but had left for Nepal in Oct). The embassy was very very nice and said no problem they would forward it to Nepal electronically. First they needed a note from Nepal saying that was ok. My lawyer contacted Embassy in Napal they were happy to send the note. Long story short .. the file was there and with in 2 days we got a packet for the interview needs.

P.S. I really had to get on the lawyers office they were not willing to take the time and do this. After a stern letter they took care of it for me very quickly.

We think the visa package is in Nairobi but they are still passing notes with FRA on accepting the application. SO went to the Consulate today and they gave her an instruction sheet. We teleconferenced and did most of the forms on-line over the weekend and they should be arriving there tomorrow. If the packet is released by Monday, we'll be ready. "The long pole in the tent" looks like the medical but we have the list of doctors and am working that now.

Well consider yourself lucky you got it resolved so soon.

I am Canadian but lived in Korea when I started to file. On the form I indicated that I wanted to deal with Montreal, NOT Korea as I was moving back within the next few monthsl. I stated that very clearly in the box they provided :) Well, I get my NOA2 and low and behold they had sent it to Korea (I had moved back to Canada by then). So back and forth talking to the consulates was not making sense. Korea said Montreal had to request it. Montreal said Korea had to request it. Finally, Korea had said it had been forward to Montreal. Phew, OK. I waited 3 weeks, contacted Montreal - nothing, no record of it. I called South Korea and they said "oh no, we can't do that, Montreal has to request it" GRRR. WHAT! You just TOLD ME 3 weeks ago it was sent there!! "Oh no, Montreal has to request it" GRRR! SO, in a THREE WAY email to both Montreal AND Korea we had went back and forth. A threat to contact fiances congressman helped I am sure.

Anyway :) 3 months later to the day almost I got an email saying packet 3 had been sent to my Canadian address.

What a headache. It is also because Montreal is so backed up, but I don't think yours will take as long as mine. But, could be worse!

Good Luck :)

Well an email this morning confirmed my fears about the mule train. Nairobi said the packet was sent via diplomatic pouch and to check back around April 13th! (I guess that means it went back to DC to be sorted and will ship back to Nairobi in their next pouch)

When I was a contractor for them, we could "pouch" 50,000 pounds of equipment and it would get there in 5-10 days. I guess its not important to them how they disrupt people's lives?

Well at least we will be completely ready. We have everything in place. Should have the medical results tomorrow. all of the forms have been filled out and are in my SO's hands in Nairobi. Back to hurry-up and wait mode.
