Dude, what difference does that make anyway?? I am not applying for a K 1 etc. where I need to provide proof for my income. I am just removing my conditions.

I am not a dude. Do whatever the blip you like, I could not really care less. People are giving advise on how to prepare the most complete package possible for an I-751. Don't like it? Do it as you please and good luck.

We didn't provide W2's (although we sent transcripts). My reasoning was the same as yours.

They're looking for proof of co-mingled finances, regardless of the amounts.

Last year I got 2007 and 2006 transcripts in time to submit the application in April. I ordered them through the automated phone line posted elsewhere on this site. Got the transcripts in March 2008, about 3 weeks after e-filing my taxes in February. So... unless I did something wrong... I think it's very possible you can get the transcripts before April.

We tried to order a transcript of our 2008 tax return to submit with I-751, but the IRS phone system told us that it is not possible and without giving any reasons. We just filed our 2008 return about one week ago and it was accepted by the IRS. Has anyone run into this problem before?

I ran into the same problem yesterday...I will definitely keep calling but if I don't have the transcript for our 2008 return by the time my 90-day window opens, I will do what some of you suggested and submit printouts of our returns along with the W2s.

This might be obvious, but I wanted to add that you need to enter the SSN for the primary taxpaper (the first one listed on the return). If you enter your own SSN and your spouse is the primary taxpaper, you will get an error.

And I did get my 2007 return last year way before April 15 2008, but I waited several weeks after filing my taxes before I put in the request. It was done all through the automated phone line. I don't know if my case is unusual, or if it has changed this year.

I used my husband's SSN as he is the primary tax payer but still wasn't able to request the transcript for 2008.

What I wanted to add is, when we prepared the paperwork for our AOS in 2007, we also orderd IRS tax transcripts and received them all (including the one for 2006!) before April 15th...so there is still hope that it will all work out this time as well and that we will have the transcript in hand when my ROC window opens.

What month did you file for your taxes if you don't mind me asking?

I have been meaning to ask the same question the past weeks. Anyway, I finally got in touch with an IRS rep just today and told me that, normally, it would take 6-8 weeks before a transcript is made available to the tax payer. If tax forms are filed electronically, then it would take 10-21 days.

If I run out of time, I'd do what others suggested. Good luck, waiting-1!

I did the same thing but we can request for the transcript around June.
