I am living in Maryland on a K1 visa. I was wondering what I need to obtain a US drivers licence and if I am legally entitled to drive on the international drivers permit. I have a full Irish drivers licence.

Appreciate any help.

It varies from state to state. Call your local DMV. I could drive for 6 months with my international driving license in Kansas. I didn't have to do it as I got my DL in 2 months after coming to the US but it was before they changed the DL application procedures.

Anybody else wondering about your state, a good place to start is Google. Maryland driver's license, New York driver's license, etc.

Find a state government website, not a website trying to sell worthless international driver's licenses.
