When you submit the affidavit of support, how many years of tax returns do you need to include? I have heard that it is a good idea to include the past three years returns. Since I have spent so much time overseas with my fiance these past three years, my income from those time periods do not meet the requirements. I just started a new job this year, and my annual salary would be in the mid 20s. I believe my current salary would be enough, but I'm not sure of the present income requirements. I plan on getting a letter from my employer, but his interview is in April, so it would only show that I've been earning my present income since the beginning of this year. Should I get a co-sponsor? What are the requirements for a co-sponsor?

Thank you

Unless self-employed, you're only required to include at least your most recent tax return (and supporting documents). If you think it will help (which it sounds like you don't think it would) you can include more.

Income requirements are (unless currently in the military) 125% of the Poverty Guidelines for your household size (One Source for the 2009 Federal Poverty Guidelines) which would be at least yourself and your fiancé/spouse.

Co-sponsor must be a USC and has the same earnings requirements for their (and your fiancé/spouse) household size.
