But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Corruption Perceptions Index

World_Map_Index_of_perception_of_corruption.png

Overview of the index of perception of corruption, 2007. (Where the highest perception of corruption is colored red, and lowest is colored green.)

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Well all know exactly which two demographics are responsible for the majority of no-go zones in the United States.

The 1999 edition of the Guinness Book of Records brought international attention to Palm Island when it named the island the most violent place on earth outside a combat zone. To support this claim it stated statistics such as a murder rate 15 times higher than that of the entire state of Queensland, a life expectancy of 40 years, the highest rate of youth suicide per capita in the world, and a total of 40 suicide fatalities over a period of only five years.[34]

Wow, you learn something new every day! Thanks, Pedro.

Here's another interesting article on Palm Island from the BBC, published December 2004. The article says this about Palm Island: "The rates of violence on Palm Island are amongst the highest in Australia, and some would argue amongst the highest in the world."

It sounds rather like naiive people not doing any research beforehand.

There are similar places in *this* country I wouldn't set foot in.

Next you are going to tell me the beheading of people in the name of "drug wars" is also the norm both here and abroad.

My point exactly PD. If tourists do not take the time to research and want to play Indiana Jones in the Brazilian favelas, or the Mexico city barrios; why on earth are they surprised when they get mugged, attacked or worse? Really, stupidity reigns.

Hmm, I cannot think of one place in Australia you can go to and consequently lose your life.

what about all those snakes

Not too far from Melbourne you can literally burn in a forest fire these days. :(

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Isn't that the place where the government closed everything except for the local pub, and where boys ride horses through the town center and fire slingshots at passing cars?

What's the point of that comparison?

That index has to do with the perception of political corruption among politicians and public officials.

Fair enough. Are these stats any good or up to the PD standard?

Murders (per capita) (most recent) by country

Interesting, so from bad to worse with logic.

As it goes, perceptions aren't even that much related to reality often either, who knew?

Its always the same old guff. A thread about a specific issue - of USCs being killed in or near bad areas in Mexico has to get reduced down to a fingerpointing exercise about "certain ethnicities" being responsible for all the crime in the US.
