I-94 extension? Not an option because you visa is used up.

The I-551 is what you will get after your AOS interview. Also called a greencard. Some DMVs need the I-551 and others just need your receipt showing you are in the process of getting it. Try the receipt.

Did you apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) also known as a work permit? If that comes before the AOS is approved you may be able to use that. Will they accept her passport, or is it proof of legal residence in the US that they require? If it is proof of legal residence, then the EAD or the Green Card are really the only options right now, unless they will accept the receipt acknowledging that you have filed the AOS.

nate: what is it you want, state ID? Go to your state's DMV website and find out what is acceptable evidence for her to get ID.

If she doesn't have an EAD, she may have to wait until she gets her green card.

Can she use her passport as ID to take the nail technician test?
