Hello VJers! How are you doing?

1) If you owe the IRS money from past, will it have an affect on your case for the Visa? Will it matter to the NVC?

2) Once the AOS packet along with the DS 230 parts I and II is send out, does anyone have an idea of how long it takes for the NVC to send you the interview letter along with the instruction for the med exam? And btw, this is the LAST step right that both my wife and I do from our sides and just wait for the NVC to respond, right?

Hope to hear from you soon. :)

peace and take care all.

No, the embassy doesn't care if you owe the IRS any money or not since they're separate government agencies.

After the NVC has received the DS-230 they will complete your case within a week or two if the I-864 was also reviewed already. If this happens before the 15th of the month they will try to make an appointment during the first two weeks of the month with the embassy for the following month (in most cases depending on the embassy). If they complete your case after the 15th, they will wait until the first two weeks of the following month to make your appointment.

After they have an interview date they will send both, the petitioner and the beneficiary, packet 4 which as all info regarding extra documents you may have to bring in, medical and lab info.

i have not heard of NVC doing anything on back taxes but when i filed my petition USCIS did require me to address a past return that i had failed to file. I sent in the discrepant year to the IRS and then USCIS approved my petition.
