Hey Everyone, I have a question for you. I went for my green card interview today, and I'm not sure what to think. I don't know if it went well or not. All the lady said when we were done is "If we have any further questions, we will contact you by mail." Were any of you ever told that at your interveiw and if so, what was the outcome? Did you get your green card? Did you have to go for a second interview? Did you get a letter in the mail asking you more questions? Please share.

Thank you so much for sharing. I'm reading around on here and it seems to come down to depending on what type of interveiwer you got. Some are more procedural and formal then others and tend not to tell you right off. Others just tell you right there. I guess I should have asked. I just didn't want to seem like I had any doubt and then her wonder why I even doubted it.

I think it depends who interview you...

some newly officers cannot give you the answer to this question because they might have to get the paperwork reviewed by another officer.

I don't think what the IO gave you as an answer is bad one, just not the one you wanted to hear. Just sit tight, eventhough I know its hard...

Did something come up in the interview that might have made the officer say this?

This is Canadian Made's wife, I'm going to jump in:)

Well, first, the interveiwer was very old and very procedural, so it seemed like she has been doing this for a long time.

It seemed like alot came up that would make her say this. She just didn't seem to like any of our answers. I will give you a couple of examples.

Interviewer: "What assets do you guys have together?"

Me: "We have a joint checking account. We filed taxes jointly. He is my life insurance beneficiary of 120,000.00, and I cover him on my health insurance."

Interviewer: "When did you open this account?"

Me: "A few months ago."

Interviewer: "And how long have you been married?"

Me: "Almost a year."

Interviwer: "Why did you wait so long?"

Me: "I havn't even had a bank account for about ten years. I don't like them or believe in them, but my husband wanted us to have one, so we opened one, and I told him to manage it and he has and we havn't bounced anything."

That is the truth, but it didn't seem to please her.

Interviewer: "Have you taken any vacations together?"

Canadian Made: "No we havn't"

Interviewer: "Why not?"

Me: "We were saving money for the immigration process."

Canadian Made: "We will be going to Canada after I get my green card. That will be our first vacation together."

Again...this didn't seem to please her.

It was like, if we couldn't go to Paris or buy a boat together, it just wasn't a valid marriage. It was rediculous. We are so valid we make people around us sick...lol. Unless I'm at work or school, we go EVERY WHERE together. There is a new song out that's called lucky, and the lyrics say "I'm so lucky to be married to my best friend." A mutual friend of ours said that when she hears that song she thinks of us, and yet here we are trying to prove we are in love. This is so awful.

Another confusing part was that 95% of the questions were directed at canadian made. This was even a problem at first because we did not know that if she was looking at one us when she asked the question, that one could be the only one to answer. We ARE a married couple and like alot of us, one of us is the spokes person and that's me...lol. Well, when she asked my husband a question and I went to answer for him, it was the first and only time I did this, she said "He must answer, and you should move away from him so he feels more independent from you," She actually made me sit a chair away from him during the entire interview:(

It just seemed like we rubbed her wrong from the beginning and we have no idea why, and like we didn't answer any questions the way she wanted us to.

The last thing that happened was she got up, walked to the door, opened it and said, "If we have any other questions, you will be notified by mail." and we walked out:( We have no idea what to think.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)
