confused about when to send the AOS packet

Hello VJers!

I think I might just have wasted two huge weeks of my process. A member from here told me that since I already PAID for the IV and AOS fees/bills, ($470) online, I can go head and complete the packet and send it out to the NVC. However, my agent and attorney tell me that I am NOT suppose to do that unless I receive a notification from the NVC otherwise it will delay the process. Now is this true? Do I HAVE to wait for the NVC to send me an email and/or a letter in the mail telling me they have received the money and the next step is to fill out the packet? Did I just waste two weeks for nothing because the payment was cleared on the 20th of January. So what do I do now?

Waiting for your responses. thank you and God bless you all and may He make all of your processes easy.

Look at my time line. I paid the fees as soon as I saw them posted on the online payment form. That took about 2 days for them to receive the paid status. Once they showed paid I printed the coversheet and mailed them into the NVC. I had called the NVC and they said that they sent an information packet out so I think I am ok. I think that rule is more to warn people not to send their paper work before they have paid the fees. Just my two cents.

I agree with Peter'n'Jaime - I think this is to stop people from randomly sending in forms when their case is not at the appropriate stage yet. If you are following your case along in order and the bills have been generated that means you can pay them. Once they change to "PAID" print them and include them. You do have to have the cover letter to go with each (I-864 = $70 bill, DS-230 = $400 bill) in order to send the packages.

I don't think you should run into any issues. I have not heard of anyone having problems...
