Hey guys...

Last minute AOS question...

What kind of evidence did you include in the AOS package to prove bona fide relationship? Or, is that something to show later at the interview stage (if there is one)? Or, would including it upfront help avoid an interview altogether?

It's just that we're kind of limited in what we have available to us (from a co-mingled finances stage) on paper at this point - it's just too early to have had anything processed..

The package is already fairly thick to begin with so I don't want to overload it with unnecessary photos, statements, etc. if they aren't needed right now.

Thanks

Hey Ryna all we put were like 6 pictures of the wedding and our marriage certificate. that is def enough...they ask for evidence at the interview. so i wouldn't worry about sending a lot in the package. goodluck!

Same here, we only included all of the forms & certificates that they asked for, and were planning to offer up the photo album and any wedding/honeymoon related expense receipts, the joint checking account, utility bills, etc at the interview. Didn't know back then that we'd end up getting to skip the interview, but we would have been fully prepared for it had things gone differently.

Hello again...

Down to the last question before sending in the AOS packet...

When translating the birth certificate, is is necessary to translate the registrar's seal at the bottom?

Other than that, it's done and ready to be run by my native English and Spanish-speaking friend tomorrow for a final (and hopefully zero error) edit.

Thanks everyone

I'm not really sure what will happen with your case since you didn't send the NVC all of your documents. Which documents is the case missing? I-864 and tax returns? DS-230 and civil documents?

I'm thinking the US embassy will end up requesting these before the interview or ask you to bring them with you to your interview. I'm not really sure since this hasn't happened before.

Hello guys!! We have our interview April 7th :D and we are getting things together and ready. Both my husband and I are Colombian but I am the U.S citizen and i was wondering if I have to get the migratory letter as well as he.

Also, I would like to know if any of you have a list of the things that I have to take to the embassy that day, I don't want to miss anything. Any advice on how to present the paperwork? binders? folders? I want to have everything organized. Also can I take a photo album?

Any advice will be welcome.

Thanks!!!

We did the K-1, not spousal visa so I'm not sure exactly in that case but the list of required docs should be on the embassy website.

And, don't waste your time with binders, etc. We had everything assembled nicely and they basically took it apart. They will give you a folder with a list of what documents they want (and in what order) when you arrive. Just have everything they ask for ready and easy to organize as they want it. And, you can certainly take the photo album but make sure they are copies/duplicates. Once you pass something through the interview window, there's a good chance you'll never see it again.

Best of luck!

You don't need the migratory movement letter unless the CO asks for it during the interview, but that's rare.

If you're going to the interview with your husband make sure you take your US passport with you so they can let you in the embassy.

The only paperwork you need to take with you besides your husband's migratory movement letter and baptismal certificate (if available) is your evidence. Take anything you can think of, letters, e-mails, chat conversations, airplane tickets, pictures, etc. As for pictures, you can take photo albums if you want but will have to take the pictures out of them because the album itself does not fit through the interview window.
