Afia,

Enjoy your trip back to Pakistan and wishing you all the best on the interview for your husband. I do not know if they will allow you inside when the interview takes place or not? You may have to stay outside and wait on him so I would contact USE and ask them about it. Good luck.

asslam o alaikum

people we submitted the papers from the joint sponsor as the officer told us that the income of the sponosor was not enough and we were initially refused the visa.but now we have submitted the papers neccessary to remove the objections.

i want to know that

Walikum Salaam Saran,

1.there was this one requirement that the affidavit of suport should b notarized but the joint sponsor meaning that the joint sponsor must sign the papers infront of the notary public.

can u guys tell me how important is this requirement ???

will they reject the papers or they might over look or they might do something else??

A few years back you had to have the I-864 notarized but if you look at the new forms it is not required now. The CO has the last say on the I-864 as to whether they accept it or not. Remember you will need to provide this information as well.

If you are a joint sponsor, substitute sponsor, or the relative of an employment-based immigrant requiring an affidavit of support, proof of your citizenship status, U.S. national status or lawful permanent resident status.

For U.S. citizens or nationals, a copy of your birth certificate, passport, or certificate of naturalization or citizenship

For lawful permanent residents, a copy of both sides of your Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864.pdf This is the link for the I-864 instructions and download form. You must submit this along with their income tax information or self employment information.

please share your experience.

we have two sponsors now and their income is far above than required but there is one problem that they havent paid the taxes for the year 2008 and obviously didnt include the copies in the affidavit of support

will the embassy demand latest copies of tax papers??

The CO will determine if they will accept only the 2007 taxes or not. Usually once April 15th passes they will ask for the current year 2008 taxes. They can deny the joint sponsor on these grounds. Everything depends on the CO.

and one more question where is the visa printed for immigrant cases?

At the USE.

i remember my mom recieved her visa the same day she was interviewed but that was a non immigrant visa and almost 6 years ago.

please do reply to this

They practically stopped doing this a couple of years back and will send the visa via AMEX or another courier within days. It is taking between 2 -4 weeks once the visa is approved for it to be in your hands.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

If you are told that joint sponsor AOS has to be notarized, then it is obviously required.Yes a notary should not notarize any document that was not signed infront of him without proper identification according to law.Yes if you don't get it noarized, they might overlook it but just don't expect that and try to have it notarized to avoid further delays.

yes taxes for 2008 will be required as that the most recent year,2007 and 2006 are optional. They should be an explanation why taxed werent paid.If they filed for extension, try to obtain all necessary paperwork about that extension. If they werent required to file, get a confirmation from IRS.

i think DOS prints visa, but i m not sure. But talking of 6 years ago yes visas were given right away after the interview.I had my immigrant interview in 2003 and were given our passports back and visa in the hand.

From USE Islamabad website.

Completing the I-864

Revised Requirements for Form I-864

Starting 30th March 2006, the sponsor signature on Form I-864 does not need to be notarized since the sponsor is signing under penalty of perjury.

I found this excellent page on the USE website and suggest that you read it for the I-864 requirements.

Hi Everyone

UPDATE :star:

Called DOS today and the visa specialist told me that Waheed's visa has been printed and that we must wait for the Islamabad Embassy to call Waheed. Then she said "Congratulations":dance:

Why is Islamabad sooooo slow? We have been waiting forever for them to call and this is completely making us crazy  OK... maybe not forever but it sure feels like forever.

Guys!

Today i got an field investigation. The investigator was very decent he came to my work place.First met my boss and then colleague. Then he came to my home talked to my brothers and then he asked few questions from me.

He looks very satisfied and he told my brother that Sibtain is gonna get his visa soon.He said the same thing to me when he was ready to leave.

The experience was very pleasent.NO fear No pressure.

Ahhhhhhh.... after a long time atleast got some better relief.

Hopefull for myself and hopefull for everyone.

That is great news Sibtain!!!! Its all down hill from here. Hold on, you will get your visa soon Inshallah

Revived,

Congratulations on your visa!!!! Wish you lots of happiness together!!!!

Good to know that..... Thanks pluan

I am already stressing over my hubby's interview in end of June.I will probably go to pak in june.I am not sure though,I got laid off on March 31st and had filled out my AOS beginning in March.I am obviously looking for work and working on getting a co-sponsor.My family and my hubby wants me to be with him in pak until I dont find a job here.I m double minded as It might give the Consular officer a bad impression if I go to pak as I should be here in US looking for work.

Any suggestions, please.... :(

Thanks

Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd give an update: My wife got her passport back on Friday. She interviewed on the 13th, so it took a total of 11 days. Her flight is scheduled for the 28th!

In other news, I just got back from fishing and my bed is moving like I'm on a boat!
