USC expiring passport

Hello.

I wasn't able to find answer searching the forum, but excuse the post if the question's already been raised.

I am USC and have a US passport that will expire in < 6 months. I was thinking I should hurry up and get it renewed over the mail.

My question is, is there any issues with a "brand new" passport that won't have any stamps on it ), would that matter at all as part of the K1 process (currently waiting for NOA2). Will my passport be needed at all as part of the K1 and AOS process?

(wasn't planning on travelling anywhere except to my beneficiary's country after I get my renewed passport. The country recommends to have valid passport > 6 months

They will send your old passport back with a hole punched in it but no it shouldn't be needed after filing. Make a copy of all the pages anyway though.

Yep parents renewed last summer, they got the old passports back in a separate envelope a few days after getting their new passports.
