NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Home Depot, the No. 1 home improvement retailer, announced Monday that it is shuttering its high-end EXPO business and shrinking its support staff, with both moves resulting in a reduction 7,000 jobs.

Wouldn't mind if AJ would post laying off of government jobs, like the doubled size of our police department started with Homeland Security, can't even drive a block without seeing a zillion cops anxious to give me a ticket. If I can handle ten kids, does it really take ten teachers to handle one kid?

Keep on hearing about local control with all those overpaid politicians, but what local control, can't change that, we have state and federal statues we have to follow, sure can get rid of all those guys. We have a cable committee in town, tax supported and they are there to serve us, so I called them and told we can handle any of your problems except programming and billing, what else is there beside programming and billing? Then I am constantly pestered by our local fire and police department, city and county asking for donations for their retirement fund, the college for donations, and even the schools. Already taking half my wages in property taxes, not to mention state income and sales taxes.

Our law makers feel like they are earning their pay by making even more laws, hey, that law is already on the books. What percentage work for the government? Some say one out of ten, but really hard to find that answer as they don't include education, welfare, social workers, or even private contractors that depend on their income from the government. Just do not feel I am getting my bucks worth.
