The Midlands is a fairly progressive area of the state. Obama took 58% of the vote in Sumter County, and most people I've come in contact with in this area are pleased with the election results, even some who didn't vote for Obama. That doesn't mean a political T-shirt wouldn't cause a disruption, but it sounds like an overreaction to me. Then again, I'm also in favor of uniforms, at least until high school.

Perhaps someone should call that principal and ask if it would be OK to wear a tshirt with Bush/Cheney or McCain/Palin.
