Hoping someone will be able to answer my query...and that i have it in the right topic.

As soon as we are married i can be added onto Rob's medical insurance, however we have been advised that they will not cover maternity for a further 10months. And we have just found out that i am expecting.

I have not been able to find a policy that will cover maternity immediately, they are all advising 10months wait period. I have annual travel insurance already in place but that will only cover me for 30days of being outside the UK.

What i would like to know is if we use HRSA for the maternity aspect will this be classed as becoming a public charge?

If anyone has any other suggestions I would be very happy to hear them as i'm going around in circles.

Thanks.

I believe the answer is NO. It is not a public charge. The HRSA is for everyone that needs them. Public charge would be more like.......collecting welfare, unemployment, going to jail, etc. As long as you are a productive member of our society just down on luck, and need HRSA, you are fine.

Here is a link to the USCIS public charge page: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

I suggest reading the guide to public charges.

Just a small correction. Collecting unemployment insurance will not make you a public charge. If you have a green card and have had a job you are eligible to collect unemployment insurance provided you have worked long enough/made enough money before losing your job.
