We're still apart but we still plan on perhaps moving back to England in the future.

There are a lot of practical reasons (healthcare, education, transport) but we'll wait and see how I settle in the US first.

Definitely want to move back. We plan to do so in about 5/6 years - I wish it was a bit sooner.

Then we will come back here again after 5/6 years in the UK

and then back again I think....

I like the idea of living in both countries.

Are you going to have furnishings, etc. stored in both countries?

I think so because the cost of sending things back and forth is ridiculous. I have a lot of furniture currently stored at my parents' house which I may not bring over here then we can just use that to set up a place over there.

Best case scenario is to have a house or apartment in both countries which we can rent out when not there but at the moment that's just the dream plan.

Nope, especially if we had to move back to London. We're here in the States for good; my husband usually refers to the UK as "the bad place." Much happier with our standard of living and work-life balance over here.

Im happier here in Kentucky I don't think I would like to move back to England.

I don't miss the following:-

High house prices

High fuel prices

Council tax

DVLA Swansea (its so easier to get a license here etc)

Rude people in service industry

Scallys/Chavs

Rubbish Summers

I do miss the following

The NHS

My local Co-op round the corner

Proper meat selection in Supermarket

Online Grocery Shopping

Proper pubs

My local chinnese take away (it was very good and people used to come from miles)

Full english breakfast

The Liverpool waterfront view from my dads apartment

English choc (easily solved a trip to world market or Meijers)

There maybe a few more lol

We are already working on moving back.

Welshie ~ Really?

Yeh, I'm totally miserable here and it doesn't help that he misses the UK just as much  Unless he gets the job he has applied for in Connecticut I think we will be back before the end of the year.

I haven't gone yet, but it would be nice to come back later on for a bit. With Tom being military there is every possibility he may come back to one of the bases here. He's not so keen on the UK though, says it's too cold!

We have no plans to ever move back to the UK permanently; I don't miss it and I have no close family there anymore anyway. In my profession, I have many more opportunities over here, which I wouldn't want to give up. The only major thing I miss about the UK is the NHS. I love the lower cost of living here and better work-life balance. We do ultimately plan on spending 3-4 months/year in France/Germany (I have family there), but not the UK.

Removing conditions:

10/9/10 - Package sent to Vermont

10/13/10 - NOA1 date, received 10/18

Welshie, I am sorry to hear that you are still having a miserable time here. Is there any way you will stick it out for 3 years to get your citizenship and then move back.
